Actually Cressida is not an unusual name. Some character from Greek traditions I think.
FAKE NEWS
Cressida is a Middle Aged invention placed into the Troy narrative.
Chaucer's deals with the story. Effectively Cressida was married to Priam's youngest son but sent to mainland Greece as a hostage whereupon she drops her knickers for Diomedes as soon as she sees him.
Shakespeare also has a play Troilus and Cressida but it is all a mediaeval fiction. Cressida became a byword for female betrayal and inconstancy.
Strange name therefore to give your daughter - or a car

quoting as this might be my favourite Fern post ever.

Also Hilux is a great first name although I think numbers aren’t allowed in people’s names so SR5 isn’t a possible middle nane. Maybe surf or fourunner?
Just "Ute" works. "Flatdeck" if you wanted to go a bit highbrow (or have an under endowed girl).
I have had the thought that if I had found a breeding partner when in my late teens (yes, very unlikely), either of my offspring (Quattro or Boeing), would have also bred by now and I would be spending my time babysitting young eTron and Ioniq - instead of talking shit on here.
Quite pleasing some of the decisions that we make in life. -

@dogmeat given the boganess of someone that would name thier kid Cressida, I suspect it is therefore named after the car version...
I saw an interview with the Commissioner of the London Met Police on TV the other day. An unfortunate surname too.

Most of the comments are bang on.

that poor fucking kid.
That's essentially child abuse in my eyes. The parents are the only ones who should be apologising.
-
@mariner4life yes the airline were dicks, but seriously, do they not expect people to take the piss?
Maybe they could have spelt it how they wanted it pronounced, and then when someone said, oh thats an unusual name, what does it mean, the bogans could then have explained it is the first 5 letters of the alphabet, kinda phonetically, and we thought if we spelled it Abcde, our kid woulda copped too much grief....

@antipodean that right there is what social media is good for!
-
@mariner4life absolutely! If they are that keen on some weird shit change your own name ffs. And weren't there over 100 kids with that name?? Wtf, horrid AND unoriginal! Stay classy
-
328 girls with the same name over the last 30 or so years. Wow
-
Silly bitch named her daughter with the specific intention of being able to outraged, OUTRAGED!, when her name is inevitably ridiculed.
No sympathy for the pathetic showboating narcissistic mother; desparately sorry for the poor kid with the misfortune to be born to that unfortunate grandstander.

It’s like naming your child Dipshit then complaining that people are calling them names.
Had this big an name discussion with someone the other day and they wrote this one down as asked us to try work it out.
L-aKids name is pronounced Ledasha

Yeah, actually, if you've turned the naming of kids into matchstick-puzzles... fair enough.
It's constant brainteasers, for teachers, employers, everybody else.
