Ratturd was his usual condescending self about the Wales England match this morning. Good luck when the paywall goes up fluffybunny .
He had a point. Wales did repetitive one up runners. England did repetitive box kicks. England gave away some penalties. After a series of one off runners the Wales lock finally crashed over. With time up and penalty advantage, Biggar tried a crossfield kick which worked. That was pretty the match

A bit bitchy since leaving Sky huh?
He has been chippy about Hansen and the AB program for at least the last year or two. It was a really strange, sudden tact he started taking. Shag must have turned down Scotty’s offer to write his biography or something.
Don’t know if it’s ideal for your sports department to be headed by someone needlessly antagonistic toward the ABs head coach?

Check out Gregor Paul’s editorial in the Dec/Jan NZ Rugby World. His comments re NZ rugby fans show how out of touch a journalist fully immersed in his or her world can be. The hysteria he speaks of is actually media contrived, driven and maintained. For him to actually think the average Kiwi rugby fan spends as much time obsessing over the game shows he doesn’t really know how the vast majority of fans think and it almost reads as if he is transposing the average punter for journalist rugby tragics. Speaking for myself as a pretty serious footy fan, I don’t have the time to obsess on it that he seems to think I do. I think it is he and possibly his brethren who is reacting in the manner he bemoans of fans.

@shark general gist?
Yeah sorry, wish I could post it but can't find the editorial online anywhere. The general gist is that NZ rugby fans over-react and obsess. He seems to think we spend our summer stewing over things like a loss to Ireland and Kieran Reads' form. Personally, while I get as hot under the collar as anybody in the spur of the moment, I don't worry about it after a day or two. It's the media that tends to drag out and perpetuate rugby issues.

riiiight. That old chestnut. While i am sure there are some sweaty obsessives out there (a few of whom post here...) my general impression of kiwi fans is once vricket season rolls around, we switch really quickly. Still very much a summer-winter fan base.

Yeah. Still happy to have discussions about how the world cup is Ireland's to lose over summer, but it's drowned out by limited Cricket coverage. The Fern is first and foremost a rugby board though - I bet the volume of posts in NZ Winter are 2-3x larger than the summer. Helps that we do go away and get off our dependency IRL for a while with people
Most of the population, though, takes a passing interest in rugby, and tends to believe what they read. This leads to 'The ABs get preferential treatment' 'they only win cos they're thugs' 'mccaw is always offside' and all the other chestnuts.

Hang on. Is Stevenson no longer on Sky??

3x is about right.
Unique visitors doesn't drop by much in summer but there's less activity. Incidentally this last Dec/Jan was busier than other summers
