Meanwhile, the bulk of the funerals will be taking place at Memorial Park Cemetery, which is the closest cemetery to Linwood Mosque that has sufficient plots available. To continue to bring it home to me, it is also round the corner from my house (we have 4 cemeteries + a crematorium with its own private cemetery in our area).
Fuck that guy - he can have his legally mandated court appearances and trial, properly conducted, and then 'enjoy' a very lengthy stint in prison. Long term solitary confinement has mental health implications, so he would only get that if he was a danger to other prisoners or if they were likely to be a danger to him - check to both, I suspect, so he just might end up by himself for the rest of his life.

@Baron-Silas-Greenback Guess it's colours and flowers for all then. Except that's not really thinking of those allergic to pollen, is it.
The Blues discriminate against mental illness ...
Green cant be used - too political. Bay Packers now.
Black ... let's not go there

@mikedogz nothing heroic hitting a man from behind.
Why can't people separate his obvious behaviour from some stupid words of an attention seeker.
You can't just assault people because you're not capable of processing the unimportance of some words.

Controversial opinion time. It's just a name. If it goes anyway to start the healing in the community I could not give two fucks what we call our rugby team. As long as we keep winning of course.

I'll admit I read no more than the headline, but PLEEEEASE fuck off ...
I'm sorry but that's absolutely absurd. I can't believe you even waste time thinking that.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Does anyone actually remember how they came up with the name in the first place?

Probably as much thought went into the names in 1996 as putting North Harbour in with Waikato and the BoP, etc...

Bingo. What do you reckon caused more hurt. The words of an inbred tool or the choke hold that kid was in?

Who gives a shit. Even contemplating changing the name is eyewatering in its level of stupidity. Even stupider is that a group of people should apparently be grossly offended by something that occurred 800 fucking years ago. It's like the rest of Europe being offended when Norwegian soccer supporters wear Viking horns.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread, but how about we start another thread, maybe in the Politics forum, where we can discuss things that are too sensitive for here. The above deleted posts suggest that perhaps it's needed?

My day job usually doesn't work directly with refugees, but occasionally does from time to time. Christchurch was a main refugee resettlement centre until the earthquakes, and only just resumed a few months back. Surviving a war zone only to be shot in New Zealand is something we're feeling very sick about.
Syrian refugee Khaled Mustafa and his family thought they had found a safe haven from death and torture when they arrived in New Zealand only a few months ago.
But Mustafa was killed while praying at the Deans Avenue mosque in Christchurch on Friday, Syrian Solidarity New Zealand spokesman Ali Akil said.
His son Hamza, who is about 16, is missing, and his son Zaid, who is about 13, is in Christchurch Hospital where he underwent a six-hour operation last night, Akil said.
Mustafa's wife and daughter, who were not at the mosque on Friday, were in "total shock, devastation and horror", Akil said.
They had "survived atrocities" in their home country and "arrived here in a safe haven only to be killed in the most atrocious way".
"They were just looking for a safe place. Unfortunately we can't claim that New Zealand is a safe place anymore." -
Alright, this has been moved to Politics but it will still be moderated to the same way as it has been
It's been moved here because it's easier to ban people from the Politics forum and still let them post in Sports/Off Topic etc
If you've had a few posts deleted because of the politics you're pushing on the thread then you can consider that a warning.

I hated seeing the silver fern in the video as that monster got his weapons from the boot.
