Chloe Swarbrick made mention of enthusiastically and vociferously chanting alongside "tens of thousands" of students in Auckland during the climate change strike on the radio news earlier today. Presumably she was on unpaid leave as I doubt her job description would include provision for anything like that during paid work hours.

She seems like she could be a useful person if her politics weren't so backward. What a shame.

Well I despise both those people but $100k is pretty cheap considering the positive tourism coverage in the states that will come from it.
Yeah I heard them trotting out that line on the news earlier. It’s bullshit of course. I’m willing to bet she discussed the plan to invest $100k in order to generate additional tourism with precisely zero marketing or tourism professionals before inviting Colbert on the spur of the moment. Anybody who spends a hundred grand on marketing on a whim, without asking someone qualified whether it is the most efficient use of their marketing spend, is an idiot who will inevitably drive their business into the wall.
Of course none of what I just said is true if it’s other people’s money you’re pissing away. You just go and take some more I guess.

Interesting to see if they can grab the votes off greenies who vote for the Greens in spite of disliking their other policies. Perhaps they can be the missing piece to help get the Nats back in?
-
@canefan aside from a certain someone TOP also put some interesting stuff out policy-wise. Even if either party tanks I'm liking how their very existence is adding a bit of flavour to conversations. More nuance and detail is good.
-
@Paekakboyz problem with TOP was they were so unlikable. These guys might be the central Green party that the Nats need. Someone who can push a green agenda without the far left political
-
@jegga Yesterday Hooton was saying Greens and NZF are both on 6% which makes Winnie the king / queen maker again.
In such a scenario I don't see anything has changed in the last couple of years that would stop him jumping into bed with Cinderella again.
Glad the Nats have marginalised the environmental argument of the Greens by signing on the new multi-partisan Bill.
I think strategically given all the above their best bet is to go all 2008 again and rule out a coalition with Winnie in the hope that any right leaning supporters desert him and he fails to make the threshold. Then its a straight shoot out between N/ACT and L/G
@canefan I think this is simply a vanity project for Tava. If TOP with bucket loads of money and 4 years couldn't get there last time what chance has he got with 12 mths prep time. The Progressive Greens in 96 had more money and more profile and got less than half a percent. Surely now that the environmental policies of Nat and Greens are so similar right leaning Greens are better voting for National than wasting their vote on Tava
-
@dogmeat rumours of a deal with the greens to give them Peter Dunnes old seat of Ohariu . Greg O’Conner hasn’t exactly stood out in his first term and I wouldn’t be surprised if he quit .
Now labour and the greens and their blogs have whined for the past decade or so about Epsom and ACT being nationals poodle so to actually do this would be incredibly hypocritical. Good thing they don’t appear to have much integrity.

Here’s Ardern avoiding questions about her refusal to go on a radio show unless there’s “ another march 15 “
-
For someone who complained about her being a part time prime minister, he sure is complaining a lot about her dropping a local radio interview to spend more time on prime ministerial duties.
As a Cantabrian, I'm not the least bit offended that the PM has better things to do than regularly be on a local show, because, quite frankly, she does. I'd have thought the Leader of the Opposition had better things to ask about in the House, but if that's what occupies his time and concerns, she must be doing a good job.

I expect the leader of the opposition to call out our cynical part time pm for exploiting tragedy for her own exposure overseas and polling numbers here in NZ
Actually being interviewed about her job seems to be beneath , being photographed for Vogue . Well she’s all over that .

Like jaunts to be on US talk shows in the US? Meeting celebs for coffee? Doing soft articles for womens mags?
She is a part time PM, and what precious time she does dedicate to her actual job, she spends of it preparing for a job at the UN. -
Too busy to do interviews unless there’s a tragedy to exploit for her own personal gain and yet...,,,
Play date with Pink
Picked up Colbert from the airport and took him out for coffee
Eating scones with Ed Sheeran
@Godder The Part Time PM tag fits her like a glove . Key was a shameless fame whore but he had nothing on Ardern.
Just wait till she releases the guest list for her wedding which is coincidentally in an election year . What an empty hollow shell of a person she is.
