Lockdown/Covid Check In
-
@R-L this seemed the simplest method I found.
-
@R-L think you missed this - I'm not the one in the know!

@antipodean Wife and I visited an orchard and picked our own apples for $2 a kilo. We had so many she made apple butter. Holy shit that tastes good on toast. I'm finding I can put it on just about anything

Hope you are all hanging in there. Not even watching the news anymore.
I quit too, until last night when my wife told me Hancock was better and would be fronting the 5pm presser.
It was good. Clear action plan, and acknowledgement of past issues etc.
Might watch again in a week.

@R-L Wifes family are from Canada, apparently fairly common over there. Below is the recipe she uses. Goes well on toast, in cereal.
Cut up lots of apples ( she uses Fuji, granny smith) with the skin on, minus cores.
Fill up the crock pot as it will cook down.
2 T cinnamon
1 t allspice (heaping)
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
1/4 cup water
Put on high for about 6 hours, stir occasionally.
Once its cooked down, you need to start adding sugar, use brown (1 cup) or white(1.5 cups) and then add sugar to your own taste.
Add 1/4 cup lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.
1/2 t salt.
Cook uncovered on low until very dark and thick. (Aprox 2 hours, depends on how much water your apples have)
Stick blend until smooth.
Put it in a jar and store in the fridge. -
Did a little bit of domestic IT support for one of the non-clued up residents who wanted to access netflix but didn't know how to set up his wireless acces and browse safely. Sorted him out and I got given this:
I think as tomorrow is looking to be a nice warm afternoon I shall enjoy that one on the deck. I think i have found my barter economy billable hour rate

Quadruple too, one bottle is all you need!
It's actually stronger than some of my preferred wine. I'm going to be careful; as it's a 750ml - man was very grateful for the help - looks like people are going to be asking me for help fixing their laptops and PCs - thankfully I'm totally an apple free zone so I don't have to deal with that level of proprietary nightmare
-
@chimoaus thanks for posting that mate, I have all those ingredients in the pantry so will have a go at making that.

Virtual beers are dangerous
I had 5 in a board meeting at 3. I had another bunch with my closest friends in NZ
I then had reds with my friends across the city
Now I'm pissed

Wait until you drink it before you thank him. It's rocket fuel.

Got some awful news last night that a good mate in the UK has just lost his father with Covid suspected as a contributing factor. He has two sisters with symptoms as well.
The worst thing is that he also has health issues so had moved into isolation away from his wife who works in health services. He also can’t console his mother with even a hug as he needs to keep away from her in case. They are still waiting on test results from his dad.
So the family is all grieving and separated at the same time.
Seems that you can’t even get a test on n the UK unless you get very sick so there is no preventive knowledge and you must go full prevention on suspicion.
Shit situation. -
Much better day here, nice gin in hand. Have a watermelon gin by "two birds" with a small amount of diet lemonade. Feeling zingy!!
Avoided the daily update, heard the UK death toll is even more grim. -

Shit situation.Sorry to hear that @Crucial, it’s one thing to only see covid as a bunch of numbers and graphs it’s entirely different when it’s much closer to home as such. Awful reports of entire families being taken out by this thing.
-
@Crucial incredibly shit!! It's so sad. My friend had to call an ambulance for her husband who was struggling to breath and the paramedics said they have to be on deaths door to be taken in. Thankfully he's doing well now but still pretty breathless, can only assume its covid as he didn't get admitted so didn't get tested...
-
@Crucial Mate that sucks for your friend and his family. It’s one of the add ons misery wise that the ability to comfort your loved ones is taken away from you. God knows how that must be if it was your child undergoing such separation. Truly awful. Hope they all get through it.
