Its tough though. Shoot and you lose your career, your family will be threatened, you'll be ostracised by main stream media and your city will burn. A lot to contend with in a few split seconds.
Court systems are still pretty fair.
Then you get to sue left right and center.
Which is what I expect Kyle Rittenhouse will do for being misrepresented by the Biden campaign as a white supremacist. -

Another BLM martyr incoming?

EDIT MOD: Rather graphic, so I have put a spoiler on it so those don't want to watch it, don't have to.
This is why people who present a knife to police may end up shot. A taser does not always work and you only get one go at it, like that police woman found out.
As soon as that knife became visible she should have discarded the taser, put distance on the guy and gone for her weapon. The triangulation for her partner could have been better. I am guessing he took a while to shoot because she was in his line of fire. Hindsight is a wonderful thing aye.
It can be scary when people don't comply with instructions and that is why they can be met with force. You don't know what they are thinking about doing and what they have concealed on them. For much of that video all he was doing was refusing to show his hands and then walking towards police.
Anyone know if that police woman is Ok?

@Rembrandt Another excellent example of why Americans need to properly fund their police departments so that they can recruit and train effectively. Not having someone who squeals and becomes fixated in terror.
I know further down you say you may have been a bit harsh, but I think you are spot on with the points you make. And it's not just the US where recruitment and training have gone a bit hay wire. Physical prowess is way down the list of desirable attributes in recruits nowadays. Combine that with the minimum amount of training they think they can get away with and it's a recipe for things like that to happen.
For example my police department has now decided that one day a year is sufficient to train in firearms, tasers, scenarios (like the one in the video) and tactical restraints. And another day is put aside for active shooter training scenarios and tactical first aid. That's two days training a year. Prior to now it used to be an equally pitiful three.
-
@Crazy-Horse A mate of mine was hospitalised apprehending an offender who wasn't interested in being arrested. My mate's partner was physically incapable of intervening. Unsurprisingly my mate has some strong views on police recruitment.

And I thought the army didn't train enough.

@Crazy-Horse @Crazy-Horse What suprised me most in that clip was the bloke was still standing holding a knife after what 14+ shots at close range. Gives perspective on why there seems to be disproportionate force in a lot of these cases, turns out reality is a little different from the movies we watch.

I honestly don't know how to respond to that.

If they want to avoid fatal shootings then as soon as the perpetrator goes 'timberrrrrrr' to the taser it's time to incapacitate the knees with a billy club or a bullet.

He's spot on. Black History Month should be more poignant than ever this year. Instead it's being turned into a total joke by certain companies.
On the plus side, it's opening up a lot of peoples eyes to various things.
-
@MiketheSnow the Pure Gym thing was real!!!!?I saw the image and wrote it off as a meme mocking woke business. Outstanding. And Sainsbury's now pushing re-branded 'racial segregation'. How long before companies work out "go woke, go broke"?

@Bones I think the senator might be right. Noteworthy that Cuban offered no explanation of his own for the viewing figures, at a time when there's nothing much to do, just attacked the senators character.
Does Cuban need to? When you have a US Senator effectively trying to stifle any future protestors with the message that standing up for their rights might have financial ramifications (ironically, the very thing that Lebron got hauled over the coals for), I'm not sure Cuban owes him anything.
But if you're after an explanation, you have a finals going on between a team hated across the country outside of LA, who look certain to beat an injury-ravaged opponent in 5 games. Its really not that compelling viewing.

The article had other explanations such as unusual time of year (competing with the NFL and MLB playoffs which is not normal). Talk about looking at the numbers and arriving at the conclusion you want to push

So the ratings drop is nothing to do with the perceived virtue signaling by some of the NBA players? How the fuck would I know? How would I know if ratings actually went up massively because of the "virtue signalling" but fell dramatically because people were preoccupied with job losses or some other Covid related shit?
I have no idea.
But it sure as hell isn't necessary for Cuban to explain it to Cruz.
Nor me to you.

More on the Pure Gym thing. As is often the case there is less going on behind the headlines and consequent outrage.
Nothing to see here. Move along quietly please.
