Latest update, 5 cases all in MIQ, so no community cases today.
The band is getting back together later with the Jacinda and Ashley show at 4pm after today's Cabinet meeting.
Too early to know about community cases i suspect, they would have only received tests today

I'll accept some blame for this new outbreak. For the first time since March last year, I bought yeast from the supermarket yesterday morning...

Is that a fairly obscure right wing dog whistle?

From RNZ live, so far so good:
Seven of the nine co-workers of the mother have returned negative test results. There are 42 close contacts outside of the household, including the daughter's classmates and teachers. All of the nine non-school related close contacts have returned negative test results. Only two people from the school have returned negative test results, while results for the others are pending.

@Donsteppa the only concerning part is they cannot link the genomes for this case to any other positive case having come through MIQ.
I guess its a good thing that they can drill down into so much detail on the cases, whereas many other countries tracing the source is lower priority than managing the infected.

Yep, we've been lucky so far Despite the infection rate of this B1.1.7 variant being circa 50% more infectious than the original strain, close contacts seem to have consistently tested negative here and in the last Northland case.
Good news in the press conference, the first batch of vaccines arrived from Belgium this morning.

Still aiming to start vaccination on Sat after quality control over the next few days.

So yesterday lunchtime I was made aware of someone who is a close contact to the 3 (of the father actually) that apparently has tested positive. Yet nothing announced other than the number of negative results and that others are pending. Maybe this means waiting for second test?
Will be interesting to know if my messenger (who I have no reason not to trust) has been told porkies or if the lag between what the govt officials know and share with us is that significant.
-
@JK surely they wouldn't be dumb enough to hold results back, far too easy for a leak and Govt. look like they are hiding stuff (people suspect it anyway)
They were announcing negative results outside the usual 1pm window, so in theory, if they got a positive they could too?
Yesterday thier 1pm info didnt hit media until 1.20 or so, in the current climate, people are rightfully concerned (health and economy) they need to be providing consistency of message.
From an hour ago on Stuff:
Coronavirus: Ashley Bloomfield says he wasn't told of any new cases overnight
Director-General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfiled said he wasnât told of any new Covid-19 community cases overnight, giving some hope that the Ministry of Health will report another day of no new community cases.
Bloomfield told RNZ this morning that heâs usually called overnight by officials if there is a positive test, giving him confidence there werenât new cases reported overnight.
Other health data was also looking positive, Bloomfield said.
âWhat we are, is reassured that there hasnât been any onward transmission from our current cases, the other thing of course weâre really looking for is because weâre not sure exactly where this infection has come from is, âare there any parallel chains of infection out there in the communityâ,â Bloomfield said.

Irrespective of how this pans out we have got way too complacent. On my evening perambulate yesterday I saw lots of people marching in and out of shops without scanning or wearing a mask. Plus shop staff the same. One guy had a massive tanty at Countdown and got quite aggressive to staff refusing to sign in. They let him in!

Our success is largely luck. Having said that I think the majority are trying to do their bit. Most people I saw on my supermarket visit yesterday seemed to be using masks and scanning
