Better Man aka Robbie Williams Is A Monkey

    Your pretty standard rock-star-drugs-hard-times-success flick.

He's an entertainer, and the monkey graphics angle was a little weird but it kept a bunch of VFX people in work.

Placement of tunes and the choreography in a couple of numbers was pretty bloody good actually.

The slaying of his own demons was also a sight to behold.

I liked it. There were tits.

4 lines of coke out of 5 Take That members.

Have you watched his doco series that's on Disney or Apple? (Actually should have included that in my docos list above). I'm wary of going to see this as it appears it will tread much of the same ground.

There's an Empire podcast interview with Williams and the director where they discuss why they used the monkey graphics.

Guests from Mufasa: The Lion King, Better Man, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl join us on this week's pod. Listen here.

@Nepia yeah saw the doco. The movie is obviously dramatized and a package in its own right

Grown Ups / Grown Ups 2.

Classic modern Sandler and filmed in a weird way, in that once scenes start to get going, they stop and move on to the next thing. Sort of feels like it's made by amateurs in that the flow is really poor. Probably explains the appalling Rotten Tomatoes ratings.

Having said that, I did have loads of very immature and pathetic laughs at various points and the characters are for the most part pretty likeable, and often relatable. Weirdly, King loudmouth Chris Rock, is pretty much so a background character, which I think is a good thing.

3 hot daughters out of 5 stupid jokes.

I love Sandler but actually couldn't finish Grown Ups. Like you say it felt like amateurs.

I love Rock even more so his being a background character might have contributed to that.

anyone heard of the podcast "worse idea of all time"...two "comedians" watch the same movie every week for a year and then review again desperately trying to find something new to say, season one was Grown ups 2....in hindsight the podcast was much better than the movie

I watched The Covenant by Guy Ritchie, a film set in Afghanistan during the American campaign post 9/11. Good action, a gripping story, 4 Angels of Death out of 5

Speaking of Heat, I was reading an article which listed some of the movies that will be 30 years old this year. 1995 was a hell of a year.

    Others include:
    Apollo 13
    Braveheart
    GoldenEye
    Se7en
    12 Monkeys
    The Usual Suspects
    Toy Story

Are the last two a test to see if people are reading your posts?

Don't just stand there, kill something!

A classic line from Dennis Hopper.

Saw Nosferatu last week, loved it. Quite old school, slow and creepy.

Haven't watched either in years but I recall liking Rob Roy more than Braveheart.

Anyone watched Longlegs? After all the hype about it being brilliant....sat down and ditched it after about 40 minutes. Clunky and rather boring....does it get better after that?

Felt the same way about The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender. Didn't rise to the level of my expectations

    It’s got Nicholas Cage.

His career should have ended after this…..

I watched it today because I read this post (I was going to Conclave) and it was tosh, but mostly watchable tosh.
