Jeremy Thrush for Paul Tito……
…..and I know he’s Jonah but can he really make two teams ? Savea or Jane for the Canes instead of him
Jonah all day, he played the most games for the Canes so we'll take him
Google confirms you are correct and of course the Canes would take him but he won two Super titles with the Blues so the point I'm making is if they claim him then it seems a bit silly he is an option for the Canes too.
Not really, he played for both sides so can be selected for both teams. Same with the likes of Mils, but Beaver ended up going with Dmac.
Cory wasn't a left winger so you can count him out, while Julian Savea fluffed the 2015 final because he had tits for hands, so he's out.
You can't break up that Lomu, Umaga and Cullen back three either. That was the hay day of Hurricane's outside backs.

TKB at halfback
Damn, how did I forget him when I was trying to think who should replace Leonard????
Wearing your Pies cap again and your obvious selection is Brad Weber
It was ...
But in my heart of hearts I know TKB is the guy.

Absolutely, I never missed a game in those days.
But the Canes didn't win games when it counted even when those three were at their best.
So based on that logic when he selects his Crusaders XV Caleb Ralph and Scott Hamilton are shoe ins.

It's not about titles, if that was the case, the Canes ultimate XV would be their 2016 side which ironically lacked quite a few house-hold names.
Plus the Hurricanes had no tight five then, that's why they couldn't win anything. Imagine the damage that back three could have had if they had a dominant forward pack infront of them...

Sure did. Loads of names I've completely forgotten nowadays.
But the point is Beavers teams seem a strange mix of Super Rugby stalwarts ( Tito, Leonard ) vs All Blacks who perhaps didn't shine as much at Super level ( Ioane, Ian Jones )

Yeah it's purely opinion based, that's what makes it a good debate.
I loved the story he told about Aled de Malmanche. Apparently he had asthma so to get ready for a season he would tape his mouth closed and run the hills so he could increase his lung capacity. Apparently, the strongest hooker Beaver had ever seen. So, there are selections like that where Beaver has picked guys based on his own experiences over time.

@Canes4life I have a good friend that was quite bad asthmatic, but he used to improve this by swimming under water, he could swim several lengths of the school pool, far better than I ever could with my normal lungs.

Aled wouldn't have looked out of place in that photo of the Boks from a few years ago. His upper body looked like that of a bodybuilder.

I'd swap which side of the scrum Brown and Woodcock are on.
Did the original post have them the wrong way around?

Marty Holah is the best 7 for the Chiefs, sorry Sam.
Feels wrong not having Jonno Gibbes in the team either.
You're wrong. I love Holah and he represents my golden years as a Chief's fan (disappointed but very much in love with the team), but Cane is head and shoulders above. Honestly, I'm disappointed that you didn't even mention Lats, that's not cool.

Yeah I made the edit just before.

Probably been said before, but that all time Canes backline would be anyone anywhere. Such a shame that the two eras those players came from we couldn't field a quality 10, and consistently fielded pop gun tight fives
I'd love to see that Canes backline go up against that Blues backline. Strike power everywhere.

Jonah can play a half in each team

Rhys Duggan for life!
(i have a soft spot for our "close but not quite" battlers)Duggan was a gun. I'm glad he got test capped.

That Blues forward pack with the 'Canes backline would be awesome.
