Purely a heritage race. That has all the glitz and glamour, but it's like racing cars around the countdown car park

    yeah
    embarrassing
I think the commentators actually were a little embarrassed at times
the Monaco “party” is ok, look at the yachts!, but the actual race is a heritage event
the qualifying is legit, should award the points for that, not the race
embarrassing when you compare it to the other big race on the weekend

Back in 2017 the Monaco Grand Prix made 90 million Euros over four days for the Principality. It will be a lot more than that now.

You might not like it, but the 72-hour annual party for some of the world's wealthiest and most flashy individuals with some fast cars in the background in a glamorous Mediterranean tax haven with a famous casino brings in the cash. Lots and lots of cash.

There is zero chance of it disappearing from the sporting calendar.

I didn't say I wanted it gone. It's still cool, it just isn't the pure racing test that comes with a proper track

The excitement of Monaco on the track is the practice sessions and then the qualifying. Short of a SC the race is just a procession.

    I still remember Liam's audacious pass in F2, Monaco F2 GP 2021

RACE. WINNING. MOVE. 😱 - Liam Lawson puts it on P1 in the principality! 💪

Eye-catching because of how rare it was.

These F1 cars are so wide, unless someone makes a mistake, it is impossible to overtake

Good to see the F1 principals pushing for some track updates. I'd assumed it wouldn't be possible on a street circuit in an old city, but maybe there are some possibilities.

@Cyclops there's a lot of pedestrian area around that could be altered for track use possibly?

Fair way ahead of Hadjar too. Good to see things swinging his way finally.

@MajorRage he's going to have to work hard to get into the points.

He appears to have done a PB lap time, just wasn't enough. The car clearly has pace, hopefully he can race well tomorrow

Piastri and Norris qualify on the front row in Barcelona with Verstappen and Russell behind them. Lawson will start in 13th.

How long before Hadjar is promoted to Red Bull I wonder, kid has incredible pace for a rookie, perhaps he does not want the promotion given Yukis struggles.

Liam gets knocked out of the points by Alonso 2 laps from the finish 😞. But he gained 2 spots compared to his starting position

Two I think? He ran a good race, but could not afford missteps by his team over timing of pitstops and tyre changes. After qualifying outside the points positions he had a good chance to win a point but just couldn't hang on with old tyres against Alonso with fresh tyres. I don't know why they didn't change his tyres when everyone else came in during the safety car

Decent race speed too. The moves on Albon were good.. the one on Bearman not so good

    Generally fast all weekend apart from Q2. Practise was 6th, 10th & 10th. Q1 he was 8th

He needs to nail a qualifying. He looks like he’ll hold his position if he can start a few places higher
