And Neesham gets fifty. Rather shocked that it is his first! But well done that man. Top shelf stuff when things were looking dire.

    NZ 259/8.

Neesham and Henry doing bloody well here. Showing what happens when you don't be a dick, just accumulate runs and put away the bad ball.

    Two overs to go, 268/8.

Henry having some fun this over against Yadav. 0, 6, 4, 4, 1...bugger, Neesham out on the last ball.

    283/9.

That was a new NZ record for the 9th wicket, too.

Fuckin' streaky shot for his 50, but well played Jimmy. Needed that, and you've set an example to the rest of the squad.

Will post this - should Ross move down to 5? Bringing in which ever is the best top 4 batter back in NZ in. (Maybe not for this tour)

Taylor needs a bit of time to warm up. I think at 5 you want someone who is an accumulator. You want someone who can knock it around for singles and is not too reliant on boundaries. Elliott was superb in that role.

285 is a decent score but the pitch looks very good for batting. Will be tough to defend.

There's nobody back in NZ that comes even close to being as good as Taylor, and as @hydro11 says he's the kind of player that starts slow and accelerates his innings later on - he plans to bat the innings every time which is why he has so many tons.

All out for 285 when Boult is bowled.

BC's will be happy with something to bowl at. India will be pissed that we added 86 runs for those last two wickets.

Well, 285 after that start is probably a bit below par, but then after that massive collapse well above par. It gives Boult something to bowl at anyway... runs on the board can build pressure.

Ugh. The less said about the bowling and fielding effort, the better. Hat's off to Kohli, after given a life by Taylor, he made us pay hardcore.

@Mokey yep. dropped on 2. finishes 154 not out. even though you finally made some runs ross, that's still -110 for the day.

positives neesham and henry, and despite the dig above taylor finally getting some form back is the most important thing for us really.

which is only good if he actually scores big. admittedly even 40 from 40 is fine. just feels like our middle order let us down massively (again)

All I have to say about that run chase is we got Kohli'd. Bound to happen at least twice in a 5 match series. Rosco needs to be spanked 152 times by Kane for that.

In other news England just managed to hold off Bangladesh. Bangles went into the final day needing 33 runs to win with 2 wickets in hand... lost by 22. Gutted!

There were some terrible shots in that middle order - worst was Corianderson who slapped a full toss straight to mid-off. When you're in at 5 in an ODI, you have to be more responsible than that, you're more than powerful enough to punish them in the later overs once set.

It's a miracle - we've won the toss!!!! Though the Cricinfo commentators are suggesting that with the dew factor, Kane's made a mistake in batting first. Additionally, I'm inclined to think we should have put the Indians in because they prefer to chase.

Apparently we're playing three spinners - Devcich, Santner and Sodhi - Cricinfo is a bit confusing in that they've listed Anderson to play, but are seemingly saying he's not. It would be sensible to bat Neesham at five given recent form.

Let's hope we go better against the Indians than the Cubs did. 🙂

Neesham in for Anderson - but, the really big change is Watling in for Ronchi.

    46/0 after 6.

Don't even fucking think about mentioning it! 🙂

6.4 Yadav to Guptill, 1 run, dropped. You wouldn't expect him to take that, but he certainly saved some runs. A slower delivery outside off with no change in direction in the air or off the pitch. Guptill wants to go straight but hits it to mid-kn's left off the inside half of the bat. Mishra dives to his left but parries his one-handed attempt towards long-on.

Can the mods change it so that the word Bones comes up as Fluffybunny!

Anderson and Ronchi have been dining out on previous exploits (well Anderson has been) for ages. Nice to see BJ get a chance

80/0 after 10. I have no comment to make about this game at this stage.
