Hmmm not ideal having these 2 at the crease together for the final overs!

Get them out is the solution!

Kane needs to bowl an over or two here. Ferguson might get smacked in the final overs.

    183/6 after 40 overs.

Amla and Duminy particularly had problems timing the ball, so maybe my 300 minimum was a bit optimistic, but I'm inclined to think the Jaapies are still a fair bit below par right now.

That is where Williamson is poor as a captain. Styris could spot Ferguson was going to struggle to bowl a 4 over spelll why not him. Even after the third over made it obvious he still gives him a 4th. why not give Neesham one over or himself.

Yeah - he's probably gone for 10-15 more than he should have.

Coney reckoning on the radio that he doesn't think this pitch is particularly easy. Kepler had earlier gone for a revision to 250 being competitive.

Kane is more a captain by numbers so needs to learn to adapt to the situation at the time.

[stuck record]Ferguson yet again has pace but almost nothing else. Fine against the Bangles or Zimbabwe, but otherwise... [/stuck record]

    So the Jaapies made:

    103/1 off the first 20
    80/5 off the next 20
    89/1 off the final 10

That second 20 overs is poor and too many wickets down probably cost 10 runs in the final 10.

With the start they made, I'm going to say they should have made 300 - but, then it was probably a better than par start.

So overall - maybe 280 is par.

Good thing for us is that we're not going out needing to score like madmen from the start - which is good for people like Latham, Kane and Rossco.

Other good thing is that I reckon batting is the Jaaps strong suit. Missing Steyn, Philander, Morkel and Morris - not sure how many of those guys play in their best ODI team these days, but some of them.

Not losing wickets to Tahir will go a long way here.

Neesham is good enough to be a specialist batsman..
    Latham is our specialist keeper..

Bugger - while I've been taunting the Aussies walking wicket Tom and, worse, Brownlie, both gone.

    16/2

Time for Tom to take a holiday. Put the feet up. Guppy and Ronchi in for the next one.

    Broom or Neesham out.
