I know its not sexy, but i find "binge dieting" is the best way for me to lose weight. Its pretty easy to lose 2-3kg a week by keeping my intake to under 8000kj a day, usually in 2 week bursts. Then i adjust to a maintainence diet (read: pretty much eat whet you want as long as your not going up). Ive dropped about 18kg in 18months with only about 8-10 weeks of serious dieting. -

My weight hasn't been changing as dramatically as Voltrons but whatever the level you play at ( says MN5 whose rugby comeback is about 12 years in the making and counting ) I think it's important to do some weights and power type exercises. I mean obviously a ripped 95kg is better than being 90kg but not in as good a shape if that makes sense..... -
dieting is a dirty word.<br />

eat clean - cut the junk, and you'll lose 2 or 3 kilos of FLUID in 2 or 3 days!! and then keep eating clean and eating less cals than you use, and the real weight loss flies in under that radar!<br />

Bottom line it is simple, eat anything, but make sure you use more than you bank, and you'll lose weight! -

Weight is not going to be an issue for me I reckon its the training and games that will kill me... -
I've dropped about 10kg in the last 12 months just watching what I eat and doing moderate exercise. I don't go to the gym, I don't have a personal trainer, I don't do group exercise. It is just me, the chinup bar, and a couple of dumbells most days, and the others it is just me and the footpath. Just read the nutritional panels on everything you eat, and count the kilojoules. Salad is actually great once you stop eating refined sugar.<br />

Have a day off each week to eat whatever you goddamn want. I find this is a magnificent concept to keep me mentally fresh. -
Yeah I also suspect it should be easier now the Cup is over and you're not choppin obscene amounts of beer while watching the games ( or maybe thats just me ) weighed in at 100 again after the weekend, DOH !! <br />

Piking out! Would be a more apt title at this stage. Been working so much lately that I often forget what day it is. Im in the middle of a 16 day(or 17 not quite sure) stretch as it is now. I am basically coming home, cooking the kids tea and colapsing on the couch. Barely have a enough time for the Fern FFS...<br />

Im losing weight but not the right way. Pure exhaustion and lack of eating are not the basis for healthy living. But you do what you have to eh.<br />

yeah that is similar to what I do, alot of stomach and stretches too around my core, press ups along with a set of dumb bells for bicep, tricep and shoulder stuff. Just targeting some of the main muscles and doing alot of core work as I have had minor niggles with my lower back -

I'm in a similar position, so know it's difficult. Try an incorporate exercise into your work day, say if you work on the 5th floor always take the stairs, park far from work so you have to walk there, and do it at a fast clip, stuff like that. All adds up while you have a compressed schedule.<br />

The key thing when yo are that busy is to plan your meals for lunch and afternoon snacks, also a small thing that can save you heaps. -

Nah dont beat yourself up about it mate. My training cycle has always gone in fits and starts, I think just about everyones (except for Barts and Brad Thorns) does as well. When you have kids its twice as hard to find the time and when one of the little tykes goes down sick its damn near impossible to do anything. I've started doing more regular short sharp sessions at home. For example ten minutes of doing lifts with my keg plus a few planks and chins on the back lawn is 1000 times better for me than not making it to the gym. Do what you can when you can, (if you can)...... and when you do find have more energy/free time I'm sure you will make the most of the opportunity. -
yeah you need some form of execise that fits with your work/home life - stealing bits of time to workout as you can. Exactly the same as changing your eating habits. Bart (and Kirwan) have both posted about how they prep for kai. I seem to manage it for a couple of days then forget or get distracted and then I'm back to buying my lunch or eating a really late (and light) breakfast.<br />

But you don't want a feast or famine approach to working out either - you'll improve but not at the pace you'd hope for. Probably not that great for motivation either. -

What an absolute shit effort this was back in the day!!!
This year I undertook a couple of plans. 4 week and then 12 week.
The results were pretty good.
The 4 week shocked the system. I got back into running and cycling. I lost 5kgs through high aerobic activity and almost no weights. no real diet as such just clean(buzzword) eating.
The 12 week was a complete c*nt of a thing. 7 meals a day. limited dietary options, no sugar, no dairy and no carbs - fibrous carb like ok though. Lots of sups lots of stims and shit loads of weights. Cardio everyday but no running. Just enough to get a sweat going.
I started the year at 106kg I am now 95 give or take a kg. pretty close to abs for the first time since forever. I got really strong and my poor posture sorted its self out. This was an extreme program 8 gym sessions a week. I am visibly fitter and trimmer.
The struggle now is to not binge eat while recovering from a snapped achilles. Last night I ate an entire packet of 40% choc chip cookies. there were 20 cookies in that pack. Don't look at me - im hideous....
Tried SBW skateboard rowing and probs need to wait a bit longer....and probs need better coordination.
I finally got serious this year and this injury really sucked all the positivity out of the room.
