June Internationals
-
Hi all, I have inserted the June match schedule in the first post and will keep it updated as much as possible. I'll include broadcast times & channels if games are televised or streamed if I can find that info.
If the moderators consider that appropriate, can this thread be pinned at the top, so everyone can easily find it?

Apparently Tonga haven't hosted a test at all since 2009 according to this article. I'm very surprised at that.
Was reading that NZ and Aus had given about $2m each for the stadium ref development, as Tonga are about to host the Pacific Games. PNG pledged $shitloads but haven't come through (yet).

Wales game v Tonga has been moved from Nukualofa to Auckland, as the stadium isn't up to standard.
There was a suggestion that the Tonga-Wales test might be the curtainraiser to the NZ-Samoa test in a double-header at Albany.

I assume this means that - although hasn't been included in the touring squad for Argentina - he may be considered for the game against the Barbarians?
-
@Stargazer Fair enough. They just don't have the player numbers to have any depth.

Welsh squad for Samoa and Tonga matches named
Same old, same old.
A number of players who should be there aren't, too many who are there who should have been put out to pasture ages ago.
Wales 2017 summer tour squad
Forwards: Scott Baldwin (Ospreys), Jake Ball (Scarlets), Adam Beard (Ospreys), Kristian Dacey (Cardiff Blues), Seb Davies (Cardiff Blues), Ryan Elias (Scarlets), Rob Evans (Scarlets), Tomas Francis (Exeter Chiefs), Ollie Griffiths (Newport Gwent Dragons), Cory Hill (Newport Gwent Dragons), Ellis Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Wyn Jones (Scarlets), James King (Ospreys), Samson Lee (Scarlets), Josh Navidi (Cardiff Blues), Nicky Smith (Ospreys), Rory Thornton (Ospreys), Thomas Young (Wasps).

Jamie Roberts captain
Depending on the weather and who Samoa and Tonga pick, we could easily lose both of these

You'll be OK, most of their good players will be with the BIL

To be fair Mike with half your senior players away with the Lions together with most of the coaching staff, you'd expect a few old heads/has beens to be in the mix.

I don't know all the players but I'd think it would be a great opportunity for blooding quite a few young possibles rather than fall back on 'tried and average'. Is that what you mean @MiketheSnow ?

Definitely.
For example, we know what Anscombe can and can not do. Shingler is the better player and should have gone. But the WRU have invested so much in Anscombe they can't turn around in the rabbit hole.
Dan Evans (Ospreys) and Matthew Morgan (Blues) have been the form full-backs all season. Both omitted
The backline should have been
15 Matthew Morgan (Blues) / Dan Evans (Ospreys)
14 Keelan Giles (Ospreys)
13 Tyler Morgan (Newport Gwent Dragons)
12 Scott Williams (Captain, Scarlets)
11 Steff Evans (Scarlets)
10 Sam Davies (Ospreys)
9 Gareth Davies (Scarlets)But will most probably end up being
15 Sam Davies (Ospreys)
14 Keelan Giles (Ospreys)
13 Scott Williams (Scarlets)
12 Jamie Roberts (captain, Harlequins)
11 Alex Cuthbert (Blues)
10 Gareth Anscombe (Blues)
9 Gareth Davies (Scarlets) -
For some reason the numbering is all over the place

No more unusual than the continued persistence in numbering teams 15-10 then 1-8

Firstly: what @Crucial said
Second: the software sees numbers and creates a list -

Fixed
Dots after a number makes the software think its an ordered list and the numbers will keep incrementing

The Barbarians squad to take on England and Ulster is taking shape.
At this stage, the following players have been selected:
Backs:
Bundee Aki (Connacht), Adam Ashley-Cooper (Bordeaux Begles & Australia), Yann David (Toulouse and France), Will Genia (Stade Francais & Australia), Maxime Medard (Toulouse & France), Ruan Pienaar (Ulster & South Africa), Charles Piutau (Ulster & New Zealand).Forwards:
Patricio Albacete (Toulouse & Argentina), Steffon Armitage (Pau & England), Thierry Dusautoir (Toulouse & France), Corey Flynn (Glasgow Warriors & New Zealand), Facundo Isa (Lyon & Argentina), Census Johnston (Toulouse & Samoa), Joe Tekori (Toulouse & Samoa), Jeremy Thrush (Gloucester & New Zealand).Obviously, Pienaar and Piutau will only be available for the game v England and will play for Ulster against the Baabaas.
The rumour is that they are chasing Dan Carter for the 10 jersey, but no news on that front yet.

@Stargazer you seem to have highlighted an Irishman by mistake...
