@Nepia Lions fan at Rugby club, needed somewhere to stay.

Lady offers him a bed at her place.

He was there, her sons turn up, he thought they were big units...was asking if they played and to what level, she said you will see one of them tomorrow...was Ioanes place he was staying in.

Oh yeah, that was the interview with Sandra Ioane that I mentioned I accidentally listened to.

@Nepia here is another version, for those not wanting to give Veitch a click (although his clip is on autoplay in the article)

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11881704&ref=NZH_fb

A stranded Lions fan who didn't have any accommodation has been taken in by the family of an All Black.

The mum of All Black Rieko Ioane and Blues star Akira found out Lions supporter Alex Edwards was planning to sleep in his caravan in the carpark of the Ponsonby Rugby Club.

So she took him in, but little did Edwards know that her two sons were New Zealand rugby royalty, and also lived in the house that he was about to stay in.

"When we got to their house, she introduced me to her husband Ed and the two lads came in, and she said 'This is Akira and Rieko'. I still didn't twig.

Edwards said it took him a while to click on to who he was staying with.

"After having a cup of tea with Ed for five or 10 minutes, I said 'Your lads must play a decent standard being that big!'

"Ed goes 'You'll see them run out tomorrow night'. I was like 'What do you mean?' I thought they'd be running out for Ponsonby, Sandra's team. Then Ed said 'They're starting for the Blues mate!'."

Not happy with letting the Lions supporter sleep in his campervan in their driveway, Sandra insisted the that Edwards join the family inside to sleep, offering him free rein of their house including the pantry.

While a little star-struck, Edwards shared numerous conversations with the rugby stars saying they were down to earth.

"They were just really nice, really good blokes," he told Veitchy on Sport.

"I can't imagine [staying with a rugby star] would happen anywhere else or back home."

His story has since gone viral with global media reporting on the Lions fan's big moment.

Alex's new found fame has seen him stopped in bars for photos and people wanting to hear his story.

"It was odd getting recognised in bars last night in Kingsland," he said. "As far as tours go, this one's pretty good."

Let's hope this won't be sighted next week

Just as All Blacks fans were gearing up for the first Lions test, a Hyundai rally car burst onto their screens.

Hey rugby fans. While last night's superb match was played live and uninterrupted on Sky Sport, you've told us you didn't like seeing an ad break after the haka and before the match started. We hear you, and for the remaining matches of the Lions tour you won't see it again

apparently , once they assembled into AB training , coaches were a bit blown away with reikos pace first hand in drills etc, '

Easily the quickest in the squad now they say , quicker than BB

That's probably what got him the start against Jules. In a tight test with limited space that extra yard of pace can make all the difference, and so it proved. Our coaches are fucking rugby geniuses.

JUst watched the highlights package, and the tackle Read missed on Williams, TBF to Read, if an international FB couldnt beat an 8 as he did there, he had no place being there, similarly cant apportion too much to Cruden either as he just got gassed by him.

Only thing that may have changed the outcome of that coulda been if Read hadnt of been charging so hard chasing , but I think it comes down more to a moment of brilliance from Williams than blaming Read or Cruden.

He doesn't look like he has the build to trample guys like the Bus.

If he is actually quicker than BB I'd be pretty shocked.

Isn't the issue that there wasn't a line of black? Good backs should be able to beat two separate players most times. A couple of times our kick chase was disjointed.

New Zealand overcame the British and Irish Lions 30-15 in the first game of the highly anticipated test series in Auckland’s Eden Park.

What about Nisbo when introducing the team. "O'Brian will be captaining the Irish tonight"

    Two things.

    1. Why would you be shocked he was quicker than BB? Did you not see pull away for his second try last night.
    2. Have you not actually seen him? He's big. He's probably nearly Savea's size (less chubby in the cheeks though). He's physical.
