oh ho ho really? jesus! it sure looked expensive to make, there was f*ck all marketing, and then it opened. Compare to things like "The Avengers" and "Prometheus" which have had massive campaigns long before opening. I watched it in the VMax last night and there would have been maybe 10 other people there.<br />
<br />
Also Lynn Collins was in "True Blood" and got her tits out (thank you google images) and therefore will always be able to get work.

She may be hot as fuck but Disney is expected to lose more than $200 million on this flop of a film so might be the last time you see her alive.<br />
<br />
<br />
Thats just Disney bullshit - they may lose money within the US, but they are making decent money internationally.<br />
<br />
The cost of the movie was $250 million - already the worldwide takings are at $180 million (http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=johncarterofmars.htm) and it was the highest grossing overseas movie last weekend (http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3397&p=s.htm). It has only just opened in some countries, so can expect to still make a decent amount more.

I'll be paying to see it. I read all the John Carter: Warlord of Mars books as a kid and used to wish someone could turn them into a movie. It took a long time for SFX to catch up to my imagination

It looks like they are reducing the sessions for John Carter, so try to see it in the next week.<br />
<br />
As I can't see 3D I checked when the 2D sessions are on at my local cinema (St Lukes) and they only show 7:30pm tonight, and 11:00am on Sunday morning.

The Hunger Games - The reason why films like John Carter have disappeared into the shadows.<br />
<br />
I loved the books so was expecting to be disappointed when I watched Hunger Games the film. But overall I liked it, although it obviously had to be sped up or else it would be a 6 hour movie. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson make a perfect Katniss and Peeta but I wasn't sold on Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. The violence had to be toned down since its also for tweens (even though the book was aimed at them initially).<br />

MIssion IMpossible; Ghost Protocol<br />
<br />
If I bought a bag of ETA Salt & Vinegar chips, I know what I am in for, same can be said for this movie IMO. Easy to watch, enough unbelievable action scenes, a tad long for the genre (2hr12mins IIRC) never gonna win an academy award, but then no one aside from Tom Cruise probably expect it too <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Has anyone seen The Raid yet? It got pretty good feedback on Rotten Tomatoes and I could do with seeing a good action movie.

Was planning to see it this weekend (or more likely next week). Great storyline. Simple and straight to the point.

Even though Colin Farrel is the most over-rated actor in history , anything with both Kate Bekinsale and Jessica Biel just holds too much promise to ignore .

I saw the shorts and it looks great. Apparently holding up the marketing of the Judge Dredd movie too as the plot and over look of both films are quite similar. Though as much as I wish for Dredd to be good I expect it to be complete shit.

I found them later life but loved the series. Im still mystified at the lack of marketing done for this one. It had the potential to become an epic franchise.

I just watched this tonight, I thought it was pretty good, I haven't read any of the books but I did have my 10 year old niece explaining every scene to me and how it compared to the book! The high speed fighting scenes, I assume to not be too violent, were quite frustrating though. Elizabeth Banks was pretty funny in it.<br />
<br />
I guess you could say it's a tween Running Man.

Oddly, I've heard the movie was toned down to make it more tween friendly as it is supposed to be quite brutal, despite the fact tweens read the books too??

Yeah TR, my niece was telling me all the gory stuff from the book and I was thinking WTF? She's read them all.<br />
<br />
Just watched Hanna, which I thought was bloody good, it was pretty trippy in parts. There were a few plot holes that if I was in another mood may have frustrated me but I've put them down to movie wisdom.

Contraband; Action/thriller with Mark Wahlberg (always a safe bet) and Kate Beckinsale (always worth a watch) and Giovanni Ribisi in a role he does so well...<br />
<br />
Decent enough way to waste a bit under 2 hours.

Holy fuckballs, that new Batman looks epically good. Conclusion? I bloody hope not, Nolans' 2 batmans so far have been utterly epic.<br />
<br />
Unknown. Enjoyed this film, did not pick what was going on at all, Neeson was great, as always.
