Movie review thread...

Safehouse - an all action thriller with plenty of shooting, good body count, car chases, fist fighting...Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Brendon Gleeson

Arent gonna be too many surprises in the storyline, but the action was enough to keep me watching. -
The Great Gatsby, such an excellent book, I would rather not see the film, ya know whaddy mean?
And what is with Leonardio de biopic Caprio? Surely a bit of overkill there. -
I'm gonna go see it ... knowing well in advance it's going to be a train wreck. I'll pay $13 for the privilege of saying, "It SUCKED!" Then again, maybe it'll surprise me and actually be good.
-
For some reason: Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies...

That is all!
-
Man on a Ledge; Sam Worthington, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, Edward Burns, plus a host of other recognizable faces.

I actually thought it was pretty decent, almost a 7/10, nothing great, but just decent. -

As a 'Prequel' to Alien does JarJar Binks make an appearance? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> -
Talking about 'Prequels', I may be a bit slow to have come across this but I reckon this bloke has things bang on with a suggestion on the order to watch the Star Wars movies.

Called the 'Machete Order' the idea is basically that you start with Luke's story (IV and V) then flick back in time to see Vader/Anakin's story (II and III) after the 'reveal' in V, follow that up with the conclusion in VI. He leaves Episode I out altogether and comes up with a very good argument as to how it basically has no input to the overall and that leaving it aside has no effect (even enhances) your veiwing. It can be watched as a complete side movie for those really interested.
I may give it a try one wet weekend. -
Finally saw "The Avengers" last night. Great stuff! Entertaining as hell, looks cool, and some laugh-out-loud moments. Everything i want from a Superhero movie.
-
Did you stick around for the shawarma?
-
oh fuck don't tell me they went for Shawarmas after the credits? motherfucker.....
-
It looked like they were high. (Me and my two buddies were the only remaining people in the cinema when those credits were over.)
-
goddam it... i hate it when movies do that.
-
BTW the Marvel Universe is beginning to make my head spin. They're now onto their third Hulk (Eric Bana, Ed Norton, now Mark Ruffalo); they're on their 2nd Spidey (Toby and now some other guy); but most confusing, the actor Chris Evans who plays Captain America is the same Chris Evans who plays Johnny Storm "The Human Torch" in the Fantastic Four. The last frame of Avengers (prior to the credits) hints at Doctor Doom in the presumed sequel, and he's one of the original villains of the F4. Q. Will there be a Captain America crossover with F4, and if so, will Evans be playing both Cap and Torch??? Like I said, these questions are making my head spin. I'm guessing a Nick Fury film must be in the works, too.
-
Didn't Norton get cut becasue he's an insufferable dick to work with who made the Hulk film hard? (not to mention it was shit).
-
I dunno, but I liked that Hulk film, and I liked Norton in it. Having said that, I only saw it once, in it's first week of release, but I stand 50% behind that first impression.
Not really the same thing but it annoys me when one actor plays 2 comic book characters. Ryan Reynolds in DCs lantern and the Deadpool for marvel just ruined it for me.
-

Didnt Tim Roth also play the Hulk? Thought I saw that in a doco about him. In that case it would make 4 Hulks. Have only seen the first film which was utter shart.

Speaking of Marvel Superheroes they really have a wealth of material to build on. My son was recently given some dvds and one of the animated films (with Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonderwoman etc) would make an amazing live action film. And speaking of Superman they should get someone who actually looks like the Superman in the cartoons, i.e. a farking big unit that kicks årse not some skinny prettyboy. -

Those properties are all DC, not Marvel. "Justice League of America." After Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is completed, they'll roll out a Superman re-boot next year ("Man of Steel" by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, etc.) after the 2006 re-boot by Bryan Singer stiffed at the b.o.). There have been rumours of Flash and Wonder Women movies as well, but aside from Batman, a lot of DC projects have been failures, the recent Green Lantern (which I didn't see) apparently being one of them. A "JLA" movie down the road seems inevitable.

Btw, Tim Roth was the villain to Ed Norton's Hulk. -

I'll modify that and say they looked "baked." Subtle difference.
