Harvey Weinstein
-
Heard a reporter from Hollywood News on radio today defending the media.
Said for years she has tried to report this story but no one would go on the record because a) Weinstein always paid people off and got a non-disclosure in return and b) fear of being blackballed.
She thinks the differences this time are that Weinstein isn't as powerful as he was a decade ago. He's seen as having lost the golden touch. Plus most importantly the leaked memo which made it easier for N Y Times to say to Ashley Judd "look you're not alone we have corroborating evidence of his behavior". There are apparently strong indicators that the leak was deliberately given to the press possibly even by his brother as Weinstein was now too great a liability.
Once Judd went public the dam burst.
Again, reporter said she and others have tried to publicise Weinstein's abhorrent behavior many times but his literal and metaphorical size and aggression plus millions in hush money had made it impossible.

Except she didn't.
What else would you expect from a low-brow fakenews tabloid like Newsweek?

Really have to question the Obama's and/or the people close to them who thought sending their daughter to intern under Harv was a good idea without a background check? That is, if it really was Hollywood's "worst-kept secret," you'd like to believe the DNC might have done a little preliminary digging to see whether this toxic pervert was going to help-or-hurt their brand.
-
Sad thing is, with these "casting couch" revelations, it's gonna be real hard for me to watch movies with actresses like Blake Lively, Gretchen Mol, Gwnyth Paltrow etc without seeing Harv's bratwurst and mayonaisse in their mouths, and that's not something I really need to be thinking about!
-
I just checked a lot of the promotional items on Goldeneye (posters, dvd, stills, video game, advertising) and confirmed what I remembered, that Dench is neither pictured nor credited as a star. "Starred" as written by Newsweak presumably doesn't mean "support actress." A technicality, just sayin'.

I'd imagine he picked his targets. And the daughter of the sitting POTUS was not one of them. Anyways he probably didn't spend much time in the office actually working....

I don't for a second think he'd mash on Barack' baby girl either, unless he was a complete sociopath (not willing to rule out the possibility, power does strange things to sociopaths). I'm more alarmed that somebhody didn't step forward and tell Barack, hey, bro, this dude that raises you money and keeps coming to the White House, he's a real pervert the worst-kept secret in Hollywood, possible Jimmy Savile stuff... you know, politically and socially, you might want to put a barge-pole between your office and a "known" sex deviant, and that should be a pair of barge-poles between the sleazebag and your daughter, irrespective how many awards he wins and dollars he bundles for the Dems. Y'know, common sense.

I felt outside of my body as I assessed my situation and heard myself, a 23 year old girl from New Zealand, reprimand this grown man as if he was a small child.
“This is unacceptable. Put your clothes on you naughty, naughty boy.”
Harvey, contrite, promised to cover himself and leave me alone. I came out of the bathroom and found him sitting on his bed, wearing a bathrobe, crying.
“You don’t like me because I’m fat.” He whimpered.

I think we can all accept that most movies have more than two stars i.e. leading man and woman and that as the recipient of 3 BAFTA's and numerous high profile roles before Mrs Brown Dame Judi was hardly an unknown

@salacious-crumb who gives a flying fuck what the rebel colonies think?
Dench wasn't on any Bond posters I can find so I think that says more about the character "M" than her standing but it's irrelevant in terms of Weinstein's contemptible actions
-
OKay, you win. She was a big star and household name in America when Goldeneye hit screens. (If you say so.)
(I can't help but laugh at myself for even having this argument ffs.)

Drudgereport this minute. Fashion designer Donna Karan slut-shames & blames the women seducin' Harv, and there's that pic again with the filthy pervert's arm around Lorde. Ouch.

I have no idea how much people knew about this creep's sexual habits. He hasn't plumbed the Jimmy Saville depths yet but there will be plenty of opportunity for allegatioms of underage sex to emerge. But these situations exist in many environments where there is a massive imbalance in power. Law firms, the clergy, politics, show business, the AFL just to name a few. All of these places allow those at the top huge opportunities to take advantage of people with little apparently discernable consequences

FYI-
Rumours were circulating early last week that Weinstein was going to be hit by pieces in the New York Times -and- The New Yorker magazine. NYT dropped their scoop on Thursday; The New Yorker piece landed today - and the women go on record accusing him of rape. They provide an audio tape of Weinstein admitting to assault in a NYPD sting operation, presented for the first time.
(Obamas and Clintons still deathly silent . . . )

@rancid-schnitzel Thanks for the apology but not necessary. I didn't take it that you were calling me out.

@salacious-crumb It's not all about the democrats you know.

Where did he say it was?

What I find weird is the Ashley Judd thing. She's heavily involved in the entire "Trump is a sex fiend" movement and has been very vocal about his alleged sexual harassments. Yet she says nothing about Weinstein until she basically has to. That's 20 years after the fact and she even kept on making movies with the guy. How can she slander the shit out of Trump while being mute about the guy who actually did to her what she accuses Trump of? Perhaps she finally realised her career is over?
