@canefan The only good part of that story was the comments by dads telling how they told staff or midwives to pull their heads in. I would have high fived them all. Acting like bottle feeds is some sort of poison is fucking ridiculous enough, but starving a newborn is unconscionable.

@mokey our first was a large child. Breastfeeding didn't take, milk never came, baby screaming, two new parents stressing out, midwives advice was basically "just keep trying, it's not easy" and nothing else. Pediatrician came in and lost her shit, basically saying give this child formula, he's starving. I was fucking ropable. And they still, even after this, made us feel like we were giving him heroin. In the end we just formula fed him full time.

Second came around, and i just rocked in to the hospital with formula ready to go. And took great delight in making it up right in front of them. I fucking hated those fluffybunnies after what they put us through that first time.

Both our kids were big feckers (#2 was over 10pd) #1 was a nightmare to feed was bottle fed from fairly early on , our midwife was sweet about it, but my wife had epidural headaches and best thing that helped them was caffeine which ain't great to feed a newborn. 2nd breastfed sweet as weaned herself off about 9 months...mind you all round #2 was so much easier!

We had a similar experience but not as extreme. All passive aggressive and shit until we met a really tough but nice midwife who got the formula and showed us how. The second time we were like 'pretty please with sugar on top get me the farken formula'

@mariner4life Good for you. There are heaps of reasons why breastfeeding doesn't work, no matter how hard the mother tries. And some can't at all. The thought of these women made to feel like criminals at an already stressful and hormonal as fuck time makes me furious. I would hazard 'mum not trying' to be the reason almost never. Besides the fact that formula nowadays is so much more advanced than when these old fucking battleaxes were having kids. Oh for the mindset of is baby's tummy full? Then sweet, moving right along.

Our midwife was cool, on our last visit she gave me a prescription for 36 condoms and said it was a nine month supply.
I think I’ve still got some, my sons 15 now.

Reminds me of another internet joke, guy buys a cock sucking toad from a local pet shop, brings to home to his wife.
She asks what the he’ll does he want her to do with it? “Teach it how to cook then you can fuck off!”

You've summed up the generalisation about kids right there. In the early years, boys are difficult, girls are easy. In the later years it's the other way round. Now I know we can all point to examples where this is not so, but the reality is every time you turn your back the little boy has put a bucket on his head and is running into a brick wall. The girl is as calm as until about age 13 or 14 then becomes a hormonal hyper-bitch.

Yes kids are the best contraceptive.

There was a point early on with #2 where i looked at mrs mariner and said "i never want to have sex again, because that's where kids come from"

    I got over it

@mariner4life My sister has three girls and a boy. Boy is 10mths old and already rocketing around the floor with a fast belly shuffle. Also has a head butt you have to watch out for. Girls are 8, 7, and 5. I'm not sure there is going to be enough popcorn in the world for the upcoming years. Heh heh. (This is such delightful karma I can't even.)

@catogrande Miss TR at 9 is already doing my head in with moods and attitude, so looking forward to her teen years... 😢

TR Jnr, when not giving in to his sisters antagonizing, is turning into a great kid.

With babies, you just do what you gotta do, formula, breast feed, go for a walk and leave them at home screaming...no matter what anyone tells you, you are never really prepared for how tough those first months are!

It's also about creating habits early too, with feeding, playing, sleeping
