Thanks, feels good to be back exercising. Third run done and dusted, no endurance to speak of but getting longer running bits.
Small goals to start, main thing is to get a month of regular exercise in.

Is CrossFit still off the table for you, Kirwan?
It's going to be case of building up slowly. My goal has always been to get back to Crossfit, and that would be a full recovery.
Not sure if that's realistic or not yet.
Have had no after effects on any of the runs, so that's a win. So far it's been a nice holiday from a pretty shitty year.

Flush the dunny and look ahead to 2017 mate!!

So, that’s a year later then.
Didn’t react well to the exercise and was very ill, oops. Been battling with my health for two and a half years, and had to stop pretty much everything but work.
Good news is that I was misdiagnosed/shrugged off and recently received the correct diagnosis and treatment. Three days in I was feeling back to my old self and four weeks in I’m back to 100%, albeit very deconditioned, weak and fat
One of the problem was exercise intolerance, massive headaches and being bedridden after anything strenuous. I’ve been tracking my daily activity levels, and have more than doubled those without any side effects, and yesterday I struggled my way through my standard 5km.
So far so good, no ill effects except for wonderful muscle pain, but I’m enjoying that. Next attempt with me is on an exercise bike to let my joints ease back into this.
Will consider myself cured when I’m at a gym in February doing these;

Good luck with it all Kirwan. I've had my own injury problems over the last year and it's bloody annoying how the excess lard appears as if from nowhere. I'm more or less injury free now (all age related I reckon) and the hardest thing is keeping things in perspective and not expecting to match your times etc from where you were X months ago.
I've taken on a personal trainer and as well as keeping the workouts fresh and the motivational side of things his biggest job is reigning me back. Making sure I don't injure myself further. Bloody frustrating, but I am beginning to feel the benefits.
-
Yeah, I described it recently like someone has flipped a switch back on. Was a pretty grim few years.
And even after one run I realise I’m going to have to be super careful not to get injured. With the extra weight and lack of use it’s going to be easy to get hurt.

Mowed the lawn and went for a 20min Indoor cycle straight after that. Certainly got a sweat up in this heat.
Had no ill effects from the run early in the week, other than epic “I can’t walk down the stairs” DOMS.
I’ve been getting regular massages because of inactivity/headaches. Might have to address the legs next time!

@kirwan I'm feeling a bit worse for wear after having to mow my lawn today...
4 hour hike yesterday in the heat and then today my ride on decided to break this morning, so 3.5 hours of lawn mowing today in the heat, showers, humidity....sweated buckets this weekend!

At least my lawn is tiny, only takes 30/40min to mow it and do the edges. But that heat was a killer today.

Not dead
I did however overdo it last Sunday, so had to dial it back a bit. Have taken the opportunity to clean up the diet and am feeling much more energetic as a result.
Have kept the daily activity up with the targets on the Apple Watch, and been able to do ‘hidden’ exercise like playing cricket with my kids.
So all good, next couple of exercise sessions will be on the exercise bike.
-
30min on the Exercise Bike watching the Punisher. Didn't go too hard, but raised enough of a sweat to offend the family.
No side effects the next day, other than a sore lower back from my lack of core strength
Will get another one in this week (it's going to be an active week anyway) and try for three the following week. I'd love to go for another run, but I think I need to build up to it unfortunately.
-
@kirwan Small steps feller. Just keep telling yourself that each small step is in the right direction. I've noticed over the last 4-5 weeks that the workouts I'm doing with my personal trainer are getting A) more enjoyable and
getting more done. To my mind this has to be positive.

Got the two bike rides in and decided to the try the 5km run again and see where I'm at.
I think I got passed by some old dude on a walker, but there were less breaks this time. And the DOMS was not as bad the next day, which is a good thing in a house with two flights of stairs.
Sticking to the diet, and a couple of kgs have come off. 100 more to go
Energy is through the roof, so no complaints. Took two and half years to get into this shape, will take a while to reverse it.
