    Jesuschrist, wtf does that mean?

    It's quite clear:
"should alleviate his chronic leg pain and lead to a quick recovery but it's not necessarily a quick fix and his damaged disc could provide problems in the future."
"That is the professional opinion of Dr Rodney Gordon".

Who should go into politics because he hasn't really said anything.

The "What The F#ck Is A Disectomy" Award 2017:
    Kieran Read

"[P]rofessional opinion of Dr Rodney Gordon, the President of the New Zealand Spine Society and an orthopedic spinal surgeon at Middlemore Hospital, who said the 32-year-old Read was now probably in "damage control"."

    Jesuschrist, wtf does that mean?

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby/news/article.cfm?c_id=80&objectid=11960767

Was that a disectomy ... or a discectomy?

I suspect that latter refers to trimming a disc so it doesnt press on and restrict the sciatic nerve.

    A disectomy ... i hate to think.

It may only be a team from PR but great to see Portia Woodman selected in the World XV of the year

@taniwharugby I have no problem with it whatsoever. It's a form XV, so based on performance against peers. It's not about who would beat who in a one on one contest. In a form XV you can take confounding factors like hormonal differences, differences in lean muscle mass v water v fat mass ratio etc out of the equation. If you don't remove those factors, you can't even compare Super Rugby players (especially All Blacks) with Mitre 10 Cup players without Super Rugby experience, because of their difference in experience and Mitre 10 Cup players never having had to compete with SR players. For ex, Ennor never having competed against Crotty or ALB. Indeed, they could have included schoolboys.

@stargazer this xv is debatable as it is, let alone debating players that arent even the same gender...at least in most cases those in a all male side have at least come up against one another at some point

    Just more PC BS IMO.

@taniwharugby Has nothing to do with being PC in my opinion. I agree some spots are debatable, but I think they're spot on with Cocksedge and Woodman. In your reasoning, there could never be one award for men and women in sport. I guess you also have a problem with the Black Ferns being elected team of the year then?

@stargazer no I dont...how is that even comparable, you are trying to put words in my mouth?

That award has nothign to do with gender, it is about the best 'team'

I think it is PC, so we will just have to agree to disagree.

I thought the selection was fine. It isn't meant t be an Earth vs Mars selection, it is recognition for the best performance in each position irrespective of gender.

....and we live in a world where it's very dangerous to assume one way or another.

    So the finalists are confirmed.
Both men’s and women’s seem light to me ( especially the men’s) I guess yachting felt it was unfair to single out a particular member but to me Burling would have been a strong chance to win.
Team must be only a 2 horse race, Team NZ for me
