Apologies, was processing the scores and accidentally set a narrow away win as a narrow home win meaning we all scored way too many! Will have to revisit and start again tonight.

From an initial look, Chiefs picks were good, a few missed out by going for the Crusaders, more by going for the Sharks and even more by going for the Blues. Nobody picked the closeness of the Lions win, only Donsteppa and Waynes World went for the Reds and a lot bombed out by picking the Rebels. Pretty poor picking of top and lowest scorers as well - it's a low scoring week!

Right scoring all sorted so here we go.

Gunner led all scoring this week picking 6/7 for a total of 45 points. Rico was the only other to 6/7 and he was level with Smudge 3 points behind with Skudderstep the only other player to reach 40.

Fiamacho is the new leader of the "lowest score while tipping every game" list with just 12 points - he only picked the Highlanders and Lions to win. Victor went low with 16 and there were a fair few under 25.

Overall, I'm still out in front, 22 ahead of TR who is 10 ahead of Rico in 3rd. Paj moved into the top 10 and Smudge, Virgil and Gunner rose into the top 20.

Close matches all round with wins for the unbeaten Barbarians, South Island, Blues B and BOP Chiefs. The Canes teams both lost to tumble out of the top 4.

Only 6 matches next weekend so 2 more of those terrible category picks - closest game and team to kick most penalties.

I have a new strategy. I figure if I don't pick and get 5 less than the worst I'll probably be better off than if I tip

Obviously. But more guesses lessens my score!

I'm open to creative ideas of what to ask when there aren't 7 games in the weekend. Most brainfarts would be a good one although a little subjective in the measuring!

It's been an easy week for picking the winner so far with just one game left. The game with the largest percentage of losers was Canes v Highlanders where 15% picked the men from the south. So being 5/5 is unremarkable as most of us are. Those with the best margin picks are

    Winger 42
    Fiamacho 39
    No Quarter 39
    Stockcar86 39
    Victor 39

The scores could change a lot on the category picks and the Chiefs were a popular choice for top scorers and a few combined this with the Sunwolves for lowest scorers.

Blues A, Canes Gold and Canes Black have all 5 scoring players with 5/5 so far.

    BOP Chiefs 31 - 25 South Island
    Blues A 35 - 32 Blues B
    Hurricanes Black 35 - 35 Barbarians
    Hurricanes Gold 37 - 31 SunJags

And the final game is the upset, and of the 9 who tipped the Jaguares nobody picked the margin. Registering 6/6 were TR, Rico, FarNthHayden, Hooroo, Antipodean, Stockcar86 and Justin77. But the top scorer was Dogmeat, by virtue of picking Chiefs as top scorers, Sunwolves as low scorers and Stormers v Reds as the closest game. (Jaguares kicked the most penalties with 3 - picked only by Rico and Gunner.).

Hooroo was 1 behind Dogmeat on 51 with Winger, Barbarian and Hurrycanes on 47.

Not much change at the top, I lead TR by 20 who is 10 ahead of Rico. Virgil moves into the top 10, Hooroo jumps 16 spots to 13th and Dogmeat 11 places to 32nd. Lowest scorer was Richie with just 20 with Phooey on 22.

2 draws in the league, Barbarians with Canes Black and the also the Blues derby. Comfortable bonus point wins for the high scorers Canes Gold and BOP Chiefs.

    Dogmeat 52
    Hooroo 51
    Winger 47

    Stat time ...

Rico#1 leads in results picked - winner selected correctly in 27 of 33 games.

Bruce Kenyon still the only one with 2 x 50+ scores.

Barbarians still unbeaten after 5 weeks but 2 draws and no bonus points is preventing them leading. (A team gets a bonus point when they are 3 or more margin picks ahead of their opposition)

It is the TSF Cup this weekend, the ties are as below (based on your score for the previous round). Winners go through plus 8 best losers - a draw means both players go into the losers pot to compete with their total.

    Dogmeat 0 v 0 KiwiMurph
    Hooroo 0 v 0 Handsome Ray
    Winger 0 v 0 Richie
    Barbarian 0 v 0 Phooey
    Hurrycanes 0 v 0 Smudge
    Stockcar86 0 v 0 ACT Crusader
    TaniwhaRugby 0 v 0 Corkscrew
    Rico#1 0 v 0 Pauncefote
    No Quarter 0 v 0 Sportboy
    Antipodean 0 v 0 Skudderstep
    Victor 0 v 0 Joan and Mary
    Broughie 0 v 0 Unite
    KP 0 v 0 DK
    Higgins 0 v 0 Waynes World
    Virgil 0 v 0 Donsteppa
    Buck 0 v 0 Cactus Jack

    Bruce Kenyon 0 v 0 Triple T
    Mikedogz 0 v 0 FarNthHayden
    Gunner 0 v 0 Tim
    JK 0 v 0 Langakali

He'll struggle to keep his place in the TSF tipping team for the international season - while the winners of the last 3 years (Winger, Hydro, Barbarian) are all around the top, Donsteppa's fall from grace has been mighty .... luckily for him, there are still 2 worst than him in the BOP Chiefs.

The fact that Winger appears fairly prescient in tipping concerns me.

Does this mean I have to consider his conspiracy theory predictions as fairly likely as well?

It's a tough week for tipping, moderate scores to date with ...

    Chiefs 37%
Canes 96% but not many 17+
    Sharks 0%
    Waratahs 64%
    Bulls 36%

A few have Brumbies as lowest scorers and the Chiefs match as the closest so some points there unless Lions v Crusaders upsets it.

Justin77 and Broughie the only tippers with 4/5 so far. Justin leads with 32 points. Richie is having a stellar week with 0/5 and just 4 points ...

    BOP Chiefs 21 - 22 Blues B
    Blues A 21 - 22 Hurricanes Gold
    Barbarians 17 - 12 SunJags
    South Island 16 - 20 Hurricanes Black

A low scoring week despite the Crusaders win which was picked by 82% of us although the popular margin pick was 9-16. The Lions took lowest scorers which cost 5 points for a few but earned 5 for Winger.

Winger was top scorer with 46 thanks to his 10 bonus points, ahead of Hydro and Donsteppa who were the only others to make it to 40 points. Justin77 picked 5/6 but no bonus points kept him at 39 - Broughie also was 5/6 but no margins and no bonus points for him.

At the top I had a poor week, so Winger has cut my lead to 9 points. TR had a shocker to fall further back but still holds 3rd. 4th equal are Virgil, Hydro (both climbing a few spots) and Rico.

Plunging out of the top 10 is last season's champion Barbarian who registered a season low score of just 9 points. The only winner he picked was the Hurricanes. Richie saved himself by picking up 10 points from the Crusaders game for a massive total of 14!

The BOP Chiefs forged ahead with a win over Blues B, Donsteppa and Unite the stars with Blues B having to count a 16. The Barbarians stayed unbeaten and stayed in touch despite having a terrible week - Waynes World was absent and their highest score was only 27. Luckily they were playing the SunJags who had Richie and Barbarian with counting scores.

Canes Gold were the top scorers for the week, solid scoring backing up Winger - they beat Blues A who had to count a 17 to undo the good work of J77 and Virgil. A win for Canes Black over the South Island, Hydro the star and the South Island had to count a pair of 21s.

Go to the shared drive to see the TSF Cup results and the draw for the next round.
