Now there are people mad at Jenny-May (can't remember her married name) for asking Katrina Grant about pride in the black dress and making her cry.

I imagine it must be really, really hard for ex-Silver Ferns watching this rabble. Especially someone like Laura Langman who owned the midcourt. And Irene, watching Mes shoot. (Or not shoot.)

So Aussie by 20+ in the SF?

    @Mokey
I don't doubt that the players aren't trying their best but (1) they aren't good enough at present and (2) the coach is woefully out of her depth and can't get the best out of the players.

It was an inane question by Clarkson. She could have asked a similar question without questioning their pride.

It's the number one women's sport in NZ. It's like the ABs getting beaten by Namibia. She should ask where the hell the pride has gone

@mokey Jenny-May didn't word it too brutally, but it's a bit rugged for one of their SF compadres to suggest they're not trying hard especially in the wake of what must have been a devastating loss.

    I'm sure they're trying hard - they are...as you point out above...just a clusterfuck.

The A No. 1 thing they've got to do is have a second shooter taking and making her shots - even if she's not making them she's got to keep taking them. But, she's got to make them!

No. 2 - if we play Jamaica - get Laurel Hubbard into the defensive circle. Who says that tall Jamaican shooter can't be guarded! 🙂

Yeah that was a pretty weak question, and perfectly reasonable. My much 'fluffier' than me wife agrees. You're a pro athlete, representing your country, and your team has been playing poorly, lacking effort. No one bats an eyelid when that sort of question is asked to Tana!

But the same as those cheating Ozzie cricketers, have a good cry and everyone forgives you - pathetic.

Do you seriously think lack of effort is their problem?

sometimes it ends up being trying too hard...

I have no doubts about thier pride in themselves, thier ability and thier effort, but the end result is what is lacking, lack of cohesion, direction, game plan or whatever, alot wrong with alot of what they are doing at present...doesnt mean they dont have pride or arent trying.

    57 - 37 final.

Gives them a final percentage of 116ish% to our 124ish%.

    Always liked Scotland.

So barring ridiculous result by Malawi we get to embarrass ourselves versus Aussie.

I don't think it was unfair or brutal for Jenny-May to have put the question to Grant. Leadership is fronting up in bad times and taking the mustard. However, I would have preferred JM to put Southby under the grill, because it is clearly she who is a big part of the problem. Her coaching methods suck, and her bullshit statements of 'trusting the process' and other shit is not nearly getting the ridicule it deserves. The fact is, the Silver Ferns have tanked under her watch.

I don't even know this Southby woman but I dislike her already. Trust the process? Is she trying to change the culture? I think someone has been studying the Hammetteur's methodology

We've got aussie right where we want them. We almost never beat them in the final so now we can beat them in the SF!!

    It never is. 🙂

I saw that headline - for a start we're not close to being the number one netball team.

It's pretty much like South Africa getting beaten by Japan.

    Embarrassing, but not unbelievable.

When a team puts themselves in that position, all questions about talent, effort, planning, and coaching are rightly on the table.

I still find the Springboks being beaten by the "Brave Blossoms" staggeringly unbelievable.

At the time I was certain my mate living in Japan was sending absolute nonsense through WhatsApp...!

@donsteppa If Sam Whitelock hadn't grabbed that lineout, we might not be laughing about it! 🙂

But, it's still a step or two removed from the ABs losing to Namibia.
