There is no greater karmic bitchslap than a dumpster fire man telling all and sundry that gays will burn, burning himself in a dumpster fire.

@antipodean didn't he say Gay people caused the earthquakes? If so, what caused this to happen? Vegans?

@taniwharugby I watch the Volvo Ocean Race religiously as I'm not good enough to ever take part. I love the power and sound of the boats straining against the forces at the ragged edge of speed. Particularly in the Southern Ocean. Here's HMNZS Otago, which is a fair bit bigger ๐Ÿ˜‰ in a bit of a swell:

@antipodean I saw that clip on instagram yesterday, mental!

I'm surrounded by sailors here, one neighbour did the last Sydney to Hobart, another who is 73 goes sailing by himself for weeks at a time around the east Coast, another neighbour buggars off the islands at least once a year.

My elderly neigbour took me and TR Jnr out to the Poor Knights last year, sea no where near as bad as either clip, but was pretty decent swell and wind, suffice to say I lost a couple of kegs that day...

I miss my yacht but that's extreme. I have seen seas almost as big and certainly had waves crashing over me at the helm but nothing with that sort of power.

It'd be a buzz as long as
1 You had that crew to give you confidence
2 You could bail out as soon as you'd had enough

That HMNZS Otago video reminds me of a northbound inter-island ferry crossing I did in 1994. I was sitting out the back and the waves were so big that when the ferry was in the trough of the wave the crest was above the level of the stern railing. The view from the bow must have been much better to watch.

Suffice to say a lot of people inside were seasick, children were getting thrown across the room into walls and glasses and plates were falling off benches and smashing on the floor. Fun times for those of us that don't get motion sickness.
