Interesting call on The Strypes, Crucial.<br />

Personally, I think the 'derivative' tag should be parked while we enjoy the sight and sound of four kids having a riot playing hard RnB. At least they are mixing in their own material too.<br />

Great share btw. -

Is it just me or has there been a return to some pretty decent music in the past five years? Late-80s to mid-2000s seemed like a bit of a musical wasteland to me - I stopped listening to anything new and pretty much hunkered down in the 70s. I still don't listen to much new stuff, but a lot of the time when I click on something new it actually sounds pretty good.<br />
<br />
Cue someone telling me James Blake is from the mid-90s - but as far as I'm concerned he's a different colour and pretty good at tennis! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
<br />

I've started listening to JJJ which is a station over here run by the ABC as the national youth broadcaster. I stopped listening to it back in the 90s when I just didn't get their vibe, but lately (perhaps due to my lifestyle change is losing weight etc) I find my mind is more open to these things. Its not all gold, but there are some gems - this is from his recent album -

Also I see Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore have announced they have split. So it looks like Sonic Youth is over after 30 years<br />

I just got back from seeing Killing Joke tonight. I first saw them 32 years ago, and they stand the test of time, even if Jaz's voice was completely shot. Awesome. -

I do love me some Doors. Didn't know which to post, "The End" seemed apt, "Riders on the Storm" for some good Ray playing, but fuck it, i am going with my favourite Doors song.<br />
