Last week, the pack was blamed for our poor play. I think this week our pack must be credited for the huge improvement. Scott Barrett, Matt Todd and Codie Taylor for me.

Tough this week, but for the good reason.

    DMac was the spark.
    SBW was the outlet
S Barrett was huge up front

Honourable mention for Ioane, A Smith, and Todd

@stargazer imagine if DMac and SBW played in red and black. Would make for a tough decision!

    Same picks, same reasons.

I didn’t notice A Smith as much as others, but far tidier and more accurate than last week.

Pretty tough call as more than three stood out.

S Barrett - was the best of our forwards. Am now happy with him as our 3rd option behind the worlds best locking combo.

DMac - I was critical when he got selected in the first match, but he was excellent off the bench then and tonight he played his best game by miles. His ceiling is pretty clearly a lot higher than Mo'unga's, so it is really pleasing to see him go well. Very important we have a good backup to BB.

SBW - far out, first game back in how long? Drew defenders, strong with ball in hand, a real menace and made a big difference. Please stay fit.

Todd unlucky, was fucking awesome yet again and surely must have usurped Savea, surely...

Ioane and A Smith did what they do best as well, all class.

Not at all. I went for forwards for the reason I mentioned. Most of that pack are Crusaders players and the others weren't convincing. If I'd included a back, it would have been SBW.

Looks like SB and any combo of SBW, Mac or Todd.

I tossed up between SBW and Todd but could have easily gone either way

Well will happily admit I was wrong about DMac. Shaky start but came recovered very well. S Barrett the best on the field tonight.

Scott B first for me. Very BBBResque game today.
    Great to see.

Dmac and Ioane the other two i picked. Ioane because he did what he does best. Gas defenders and score tries. Just put it down with two hands next time please.

Dmac because he looked dangerous with the ball without running sideways but also set up his backline. A few mistakes but probably same rate BB would have had. Kicked well at goal too.

    Todd and SBW honourable mentions.

Hard choice for the 2nd and 3rd spots behind Scott Barrett.

Went for SBW & Aaron Smith. DMac was superb but I though Smith was outstanding and DMac thrived off his service. SBW played the best I've seen him in Black- not just in his play but in the support he gave DMac and Goodhue.

I'd have given to ticks to S Barrett if I could. After him I went for DMac and Todd. Both were excellent I thought.

    Easy peasy.

    Hopeless Scott Barrett
    Hopeless “can’t play 10” McKenzie
    SBW

Really really don’t want to see a midfield involving Crotty and ALB again this season.

    S. Barrett, MacKenzie and Ioane for me but I reckon I could have voted for Todd as well. Taylor was very good once again, with the notable exception of one very bad throw, and Sonny Bill, despite a few defensive lapses, did very well for a return straight from injury. Luke Whitelock had his best game in black, but still far from a MotM performance. Karl T was impressive when he came in. He was far better than the man he replaced. Good start from Coltman and Hemopo too. Frizell was too anonymous, while Goodhue had a shocker in the first half. He was much better in the second.

@stargazer are the you saying the others in the forward pack are not convincing because I am pretty happy with the replacement props and the new guys played the team role pretty well.

@broughie No, sorry, maybe I didn't express myself well. I didn't mean that none of them were playing well; I meant that I didn't find them good enough for my MotM nomination.

S Barrett MoM, closely followed by DMac and then I went for Luke Whitelock. I thought he was awesome on defence and he is really nice in the tight.
