<p>Couple of interesting rounds lately...</p>

<p>Sunday I played at Aviation golf course which is out near the Auckland Airport. Not a great track but hadnt played there before. Got there to see a sign saying 'Greenkeepers Revenge' on the starting tee...doh! Tees back as far as they would go, play the lie and some pretty testing pin placements. 6113m off the blue tees per the card but I swear it was longer. Anyway, played the worst golf I have in about 10 years and carded a 92. Front nine of 47 included no pars but two 2's which were both 3-4foot putts. I think I had 23 putts on the front nine all up....rubbish.</p>

<p>That was supposed to be a warm up for our Masters Monday at Titirangi yesterday so I didnt turn up full of confidence but it was ambrose right so no worries. We ended up shooting a very respectable 63 gross in often windy conditions and net 53.5 to finish 2nd overall. We had a rare ambrose 3 putt in there which led to a bogey which ultimately cost us the title.....bugger! Great day though and an excellent course that I like more every time I play it.</p>

<p>Only played Titirangi once, but have fond memories, particularly the front nine!</p> -
<p>Hmm, first hit out of the year. 18 holes on the short course at Woodbury Park (the course formerly owned by Nigel Mansell). Started off quite well and lipped out for a par on the first, but from then on it was military golf - left, right, left, right. Some good shots but none in a row sadly. I suppose a couple of trips to the driving range in the days before may have been the right idea. Must get some practice in as I have a society comp next week and I don't want to embarrass myself.</p>

<p>first corporate day of the year tomorrow. beautiful. weather has been unreal, so should a cracking day to have a few beers and a hit.</p>

<p>Does anyone use any decent golf apps on their phones?</p>

<p>Used a trial of golfshot gps on my iphone on the weekend and found it very good. Its ya basic GPS with distances to front, centre, back of green plus also the bunks (front and carry) etc. Also has very good flyovers/previews for each hole and is dam easy to use to score and track your round. <p>I have a stand alone golf GPS.</p>

<p>Problem with Phone version is that you can't use them in tournaments as your phone has the ability to check wind speeds and directions so some clubs will stop you using them in tournaments</p>
