@jegga
I interpret it as the SJWs eating their own. Higher level Google execs runs with the SJW angle because it's ultimately about profits and their image but don't really mean it. A good portion of the average Google employees actually believe it and will enforce it. Couldn't have happened to a nicer company. -

Out of curiosity, why does this trigger people so much that they have to show their outrage online?
I've never quite got that.
Who do you mean? The people commenting on it?
Not the comments as such but the "angst' it seems to cause to the people it doesn't involve?
I maybe misreading the "angst" though
I dont think there is actually much angst. More amusement. Google being a raving left wing company concerns me and it should concern everyone, but this particular case is not much a problem as they it is just lefties eating lefties.

I don't think you do. Quote a single post here that can be classified as angst.
Btw, aren't you supposed to keep threads on topic rather than derail them by disparaging those contributing to it?

It upsets me the direction certain groups are trying to take society, as it directly affects my kids.
This is not an insignificant amount of people protesting, and in one of the most influential companies in the world. These people are the gatekeepers to searching for knowledge in the world.
If they go full retard, we are fucked.

How so? I see things like this and then look at my everyday life and never see it impacted. To me it is always only read.
I do get the kid thing though but to me I just see that is change in the same way change is never really liked by the older of those having to change

I get that about the generation thing, but we are moving in a direction where it's ok to discriminate against white people, especially when they are male. Making boys feel ashamed of being male is not going to reduce an already over representative sucicide statistic.
My son is talking about being a teacher, just looking at what gets taught there now and extrapolating out what it will be like in ten years, I don't think that would be a good experience for him.
As for the google influence, the internet has a massive influence on all areas of life now. If you control the flow of information you can suppress free speech, affect policy, elect your own governments. Can't overstate the importance of ensuring that all information gets indexed and google don't become a state censor.
Am sure others can think of more incidious examples.

There's definitely an element of people being against change as they don't like any change. Lots of things in the west have changed for the better - gay rights for example - despite opposition from some.
But with companies like Google, the philosophy behind what they espouse can be particularly damaging to society as it extremely pernicious. It's essentially the same philosophy that drove Stalin and Mao which led to people's rights being taken away (free speech etc), and the enslavement and deaths of many millions of people.
Could that happen again in western countries? I don't know, but I'm not really willing to find out by letting these ideas spread again, we've done the 'Marxist' experiment in various forms already and paid for it dearly. We've got the best system going in the history of humanity, and I will oppose anyone that wants to tear that down.

@Hooroo If you look through the British politics thread you can see some more terrifying examples of where this ideology can take society
- Thousands of child rapes left uninvestigated because it was considered 'racist' to look into the problem
- Comedians being locked up for telling jokes.
- Teens being arrested for posting rap lyrics on their private social media account
- Police dedicating their time to fighting mean people on the internet rather than deal with skyrocketing murder, theft & rape
There is a lot more and its been going on a while, its only just now that a lot of people are coming out and talking about it.

I hear that, but I'm not concerned about it.
To me, it just seems that there is always something new that comes up the that causes angst which then causes angst by those that are against the original angst.
Rinse and repeat

We live in a time of faux outrage, that's for sure. So I can see how you come to that conclusion, the internet has certainly brought all the idiots to the surface and shined a light on them.
I find the Google situation today fascinating, in that it shows how this line of thinking doesn't work in the long term.
Probably more concerning to me is the direction our Universities are heading. Two things there - one they are indoctrinating a lot of students into a radical left wing ideology. Those students then go out into the real world and instead of contributing they just cause trouble. Secondly, because of this the Universities are losing credibility at a rate of knots as it gets exposed, to the point that if they don't arrest the situation I can see many of them collapsing - that (in my opinion) is a very bad thing for society.

because this ideology has been proven time and time again to lead to the deaths of millions and the collapse of society.

Hah, yes, well I guess that depends on what replaces them. Fair point though, might not be a bad thing at all...
(edit - assume you were talking about Universities collapsing, rather than the radical left ideas becoming mainstream?).
