Found these guys while stumbling around a little while back and keep going back to youtube to listen to more of them. The are a plethora of 'retro' funk bands around in the US and Daptone have got a good thing going on as well in more of a Northern Soul style with Sharon Jones and Charles Barkley but I love way these guys have got that Alabama southern soul thang going. White boy, brought up in the church to be a preacher, ends up looking and moving like a spastic accountant but man can he sing. Tight band too. Add some keys and you'll be hearing F.A.M.E and Muscle Shoals all over again.

First clip is obviously a produced one but the second is even better being acoustic only with only a central mic.

I hope they get a record out soon as I'd buy it.

Sometimes you get caught up in other shit in your life, and forget completely how awesome some things from your youth truly were.

Just take a moment to appreciate this recording of a great track, and acknowledge the awesomeness of this album.

Nick you may be a common western Sydney bogan, but in my book you're alright.

Faith No More and Soundgarden on the same day at Soundwave is very tempting (with Ministry as a sweetener)

fuck i love me some FNM. Their last album was my least favourite of the discography (i don't count the stuff with Chuck Mosley, this is Mike Patton's band), it still has some cracking tracks. I could be here all day posting my favourite tracks off all their albums

The real thing would be one of my favorite albums of all time , the others didn't ever really grab me like that one did. I saw them live in Wellington at the old town hall and they were superb, they did a live recording at Brixton that awesome too.

They are a very weird bunch though, this is from keyboard player Roddy Bottums [titter] wikipedia page,

"Bottum came out as gay in 1993.[3] In a 2001 article in The Advocate, Bottum stated that "I would never have thought as a gay teen I'd be in a band that would be considered heavy metal or hard rock."[4]

One of his contributions to Faith No More was "Be Aggressive," a song about oral sex. Bottum has said in interviews that he wrote the song largely as a joke at Mike Patton's expense, enjoying the potential humiliation a straight vocalist would subject himself to onstage. "Be Aggressive" became the second most-played song at Faith No More concerts. Bottum would also describe gerbil stuffing in graphic detail to shocked interviewers.

Before he came out as gay, Bottum was actually involved in a brief heterosexual relationship with Courtney Love in the early 80s, concurrent with the time she sang for Faith No More. The two remain friends to this day.[5]"
