A Resurrection.

Claim to fame: One of Michael Clarke Duncan's last films, although why the fuck he said yes to this tripe, I don't know. Even in total cruise mode he shows up the rest of the cast to the power of a million.

Allegedly a horror, but you're too busy wondering how the fuck this script got a green light, because clearly the writers have never actually met real people or done the slightest bit of research on jobs like 'sheriff' or 'school counsellor'. There is zero suspense or build up or payoff, so when a dead body shows up, its just meh.

Plot summary: The best I can do is: weirdo kid's older brother is killed in a hit and run. Or is he. Cos suddenly weirdo kid is drawing pictures of zombies killing people. And then a whole bunch of people are trapped in a school. There is a witch who may or may not do black magic to bring people back from the dead. School counsellor is trying to figure out if weirdo kid is a killer or just deranged, hoping if the questions are stupid enough she will trick him into revealing all. Her boyfriend, the deputy sheriff (who spends the entire movie driving from scene to scene in his truck and talking on an RT) is doing some investigating too. Lots of people get mauled to death by Zombie brother (mostly off camera. You just hear growls and screams and gurgles then see the bloodied corpses after.) Sheriff is killed, Counsellor is leg stabbed, weirdo kid exits stage left then it ends with Zombie brother and witch driving off into the sunset. I kid you not.

I watched "Thor: The Dark World" last night, without much expectation, given it got widely panned. I enjoyed it, it was just another fun comic book movie.

A Million Ways to Die in the West - IMDB rates this as 6.2/10....with a pretty good cast, had its moments but overall, I'd give 5/10 for this 2 hr movie! Best thing about it, Charlize Theron: sure there were some laugh out loud moments and other chuckles, but was pretty average for large parts.

Flicking on the TV on a lazy Sunday arvo and Maori TV was showing the Dambusters. Still a great watch for the flying sequences and matching up all the bits George Lucas copied for Star Wars.

Funny bit was that Maori TV had used the original version where the base black labrador was called 'Nigger' and not the version that was dubbed to 'Trigger' a few years later.

Good on them for not being PC I say.

Wasn't it the code word for the mission too? You may want to check bsgs post in the election thread addressing the word

The Rover - Guy Pearce and Cedric Diggory from the the twilight movies... set in Aus after the collapse in society (looked normal too me 🙂 ) A trio crash their ute, and steal Pearce's Commy, and Pearce wants it back, bad!

not a great deal of dialogue in this, but Cedric does well in his role as a bit of a dropkick redneck southerner.

I didn't mind it at all - although you are correct in that Charlize is normally the best part of any movie. :man_in_love:

Mad Max..?

Watched another Korean movie. Either I'm picking the best ones they make, or they're making some excellent movies. This time it was The Man from Nowhere. Excellent fight choreography, well paced, simple script with good acting. If subtitles don't bother you, find this and watch it. :good:

I finally saw Guardians and while I won't say I loved it, I did like it a lot and laughed-out loud several times. Big Dave had more lines that I expected and looked great in the role. Everybody 'cept me & my two buddies had exited the cinema by the time the credits stopped rolling and missed a terrific scene with his character at the end. 7.5/10

The mission itself was Operation Chastise. 'Nigger' was a codeword used during the mission for success at one of the dams. Used in honour of the dog, who died on the morning of the mission.

Really enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise. Interesting to him as a cowardly, kinda useless character for a change, at least at the start of the movie.

That movie is just awesome, if you find the interviews where he explains his character they are worth checking out. Also the heavy metal bitch was very hot.

I watched "Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World" again on Sunday. God that's a fun boys movie, i wish to god i had seen it on the big screen, i would imagine a fair bit of it would have been impressive.

I wondered why they never made a 2nd one. It seems they set up for a sequel. It was well received. It won awards. And then i saw the budget v receipts. ouch.

Prometheus: Saw it on Sunday (think it was 4). Not that great considering the hype it has but I did enjoy the ending (I should have clicked when the acid blood appeared halfway through the movie).

It looked superb on the big screen. It did seem like it was set-up for a sequel, and the critics loved it. Maybe it was disappointing at the box office and producers didn't want to put the money up... or maybe they figured, hey we can just CGI the whole thing in a bathtub for half the cost and Creative said fuckthat (?). Dunno..

Gone girl, great film don't want to spoil it though. Sone superb acting in there, Rosamund Pike and the female cop in particular. Some female nudity in there too if you like that sort of thing and I most certainly do.

Finally got around to watching Anchorman 2. I'll give it 6/10. Not nearly enough belly laugh moments and some gags just went on long enough to become painfully unfunny. (When Ron goes to dinner with girlfriend's family, the blind segment and that whole shark thing.)

Did like the station brawl at the end and the weirdo romance between Brick and Chani was kind of sweet.

Just saw The Equalizer. Pretty good. Not as visceral or constantly violent as I was hoping but plenty in there.

I really enjoyed it and thought that the new Batman was really good - but to say to much would spoil it. Took me a while to figure out who the female cop's partner was - it's the kid from Almost Famous.
