Interesting you find them equally attractive. I guess if you have a type....

Well he's clearly got no fucken sense of humour. Creepy sex fetishes stands to reason.

It seems you're the one that brought sex into it fella, booboo didn't mention anything of the sort...

Anyway what are the shows since extras you think aren't good?

Yes he did. Stop trying to pick apart my posts.

Probably thinking of him hosting the Oscars but I think even he himself took the piss in his stand up about that.

88 posts in and no one has yet mentioned the Big Yin?

No comedian in recent decades has made audiences laugh or cry or piss themselves as much as Billy Connolly.

When people do that 'who would you invite (alive or dead) to a dinner party?' thing I always imagine the absolute chaos if you had Billy, Spike Milligan and Robin Williams all riffing off each other.

Just on Joe Rogan, it wasn't his stand up brilliance (or complete lack of) that got him to where he is now. It was his UFC hosting/commentary. Without that, or even his Fear Factor gig, I doubt anyone here would have heard of him.

He was on a show called News Radio before fear factor, Ray Romano was supposed to play the part but got yanked at the last minute in favour of Rogan . I liked NewsRadio , it had a decent cast . Well up until Phil Hartmann’s wife killed Phil , Troy McLure and Lionel Hutz and then killed her self.

He’s also been in some terrible, terrible movies.

I couldn't stand Robin Williams but obviously it became cool for people to like him after he succumbed to the Black Dog.

Actually despite my heritage Billy Connolly didn't do it for me consistently either.

Oh, invitees to a dinner party? That’s very different. Bob Mortimer would be top of that list. Stephen Fry would also be there, but not necessarily for laughs.

The Big Yin 100%, fascinating man, so genuinely interested in people and culture, will be a sad day when he passes.
I've always had a soft spot for the lovely Peter Kay, his harmless gentle humour that everyone can relate to, I've cried laughing to his shows and even his bbc comedy series "car share" was just hilarious.
I used to like Ricky Gervais, repulsed by him now. Preferred him more in The Office than in stand up. His Netflix show Humanity (I think it was called) pissed me right off, turned it off about 15mins in!
Eddie's "Raw" is timeless too, love it. Every woman watching loves to reuse the " what have you done for me lately??" line !🤣

There's funnier stuff happening on on podcasts. I'm amazed this thread has gone on this long with out @tim mentioning his love for Nick Mullen. I think Shane Gillis will get a similar following in a year or so

Yeah, I've never really been much into standup, as I've always found it very much a routine and performance, hackneyed and without spontaneous wit. That's a wanky way of saying that I've just always found it tame and contrived.

As a person whose sense of humour developed through golden age internet trolling, extended context dependent forum jokes, and mean spirited humour, podcasts have been the best development. They can take the cheeky, trangressive trolling of social media (almost completely banned now), and develop characters and stories over long periods of time.

That's a pretty faggy way of saying that you should listen to Cum Town, and maybe Tim Dillon, and cackle to old school Sam Hyde self-defence scenarios.

Raw is great, unless you're comparing it with Delirious, then it's only very good.

I wouldn't say I'm repulsed by Gervais, though I think the jokes are starting to wear thin. His whole schtick ('I don't care if you're offended, I'll say what I want about fat people/disabled/gays etc') was really bold a decade ago when 'Animals' and 'Politics' came out, but now it's just a bit stale.

I'll throw out two blokes I enjoy watching - Norm McDonald and John Mulaney. Both witty, cerebral types who rely more on well-written jokes than performance or obscenity.

Norm's appearances on Conan and Letterman through the years have been incredible. I regularly go down Youtube rabbit holes of his old stuff.

I like John Mulaney - agree it's good to have guys who don't fall back on performance or obscenity.

Someone earlier mentioned that they didn't really like the Netflix shows but I think lots of them are hilarious and I watch comics who I'd never come across otherwise - I watched some blonde chick on Netflix and she was a crack up ... might be too pro-female for this place though. 😉
