Hi all, I received a troubling infringement notice in the mail today. The notice came from an outfit whose legal jargon stated that they acted on behalf of Auckland Airport. Allegedly I drove in an unauthorised lane and was fined $150. It turns out however that I was with a patient at the time of the infringement, 40 minutes from Tom Pearce Drive where the alleged incident occurred. Furthermore inquiries revealed that the Auckland City Council, the Police and Auckland Airport were unaware of the company serving these notices. The letter had an email address (which I foolishly sent a dispute email to) and PO Box in Auckland Central. No contact phone. No physical address. Smells increasingly like a scam to me. Have any Auckland ferners come across this? If not I'd watch out, I reckon heaps of people just pay the fine

At first glance it looks reasonably believable. I've sent these off to some anti-scam department in Internal Affairs, if they confirm it is a scam the next stop will be to advise the good people at the Ferald to spread the word. I'll hopefully put them to good use for a change!! There is a crowd of the same name in Oz, seems they specialize in issuing infringements at parking buildings. A quick read of forums from over there suggest they are similarly dirty

I suppose so. They have council cameras that take pics of cars in the multiple passenger lanes

Thanks for the detective work Tim, I might forward the details onto the cops (although if they gave a shit they could easily find them I'd suppose). Interesting post script, I received an email yesterday from TMS, they said it was a misunderstanding and that they mis-identified my number plate. I guess they decided I wasn't worth the trouble!!

Looks like the directors are all based overseas, several of whom are in NSW, so it's probably the exact same bunch as you identified earlier on, cf.

Doesn't mean to say they aren't dodgy of course. The reddit forum would suggest they have form in this regard

@canefan plenty of people just pay them.

I got a 'fine' for not paying my toll for going through the tunnel.

I cant recall how much but was fuck all...I remember when I paid the toll it only showed my journey home, not to Auckland earlier in the day.

So I emailed them about it.

Turns out they had a glitch that day, it somehow recorded people going through but didnt register a toll for several days, which given you have pay with 3 days went unpaid (if you dont pre pay or have an account) so I got a fine.

I expect lots of people would have simply paid it.

Even the cops do shit like that. I got a warning from a cop for rolling through a stop sign down near Mercer a couple of years ago. He let me off with a warning but a few weeks later I get an infringement notice. Only thing is the car make and plate number are wrong. I dispute the notice (stupidly said I was there and was stopped but was told there would be no action), the reply came back to say tough shit just pay. Couldn't be bothered with court and stuff so just paid it. In future anyone comes to work who is a traffic cop is going to have a little surcharge on their bill. Should have just said it wasn't me and left it at that

@canefan wrong plate should void ticket immediately no?

“I don’t have this model car or plate”.
