the stance to not play his music is pathetic, I know there has always been the suspicions, but he was cleared in a court of law, one of the guys now claiming the abuse defended him in the case.

Can they re-open the case to try him posthumously?

Even if found guilty I still want to listen to his music. (Not that I would hear it on any station I listen to)

I have a few of his albums and my first ever Vinyl Record was Thriller!

It's also a slipperly slope. John Lennon beat his first wife, should we can The Beatles too? Others have already mentioned R Kelly and Chris Brown.

Some artists are scumbags. We have mechanisms in place to deal with that (courts, etc). This is consequence free virtual signalling, super brave to take a stand against a dead guy. How about targetting the guy who still is fucking kids (and peeing on them) and is still alive?

It’s been tough but with a few tears and some laughter at my place we managed to find a way not to play the music of Rolf Harris, R Kelly , Chris Brown , Michael Jackson and Gary Glitter.

Never actually playing their music before helped a bit.

@Kirwan Elvis allegedly liked his young girls...

The price of fame is such that rumours, unfounded or not will follow these people.

Re: music, not a huge fan but I like some of it seems silly to stop and these allegations have been made before. Or is this a royalties thing-do relatives get the royalties after the death of an artist and no one wants to line his pockets so to speak because of accusations?

This whole thing is very messy that's for sure.

In Gary Glitters case he’s using that money to buy child prostitues in Asia so not playing his music would be a good idea.

That's very "strong" of you but if I want to listen to some music, like MJ, I will happily pay for it.

Absolutely. He's a bit before my time so not sure I know any of his songs anyway but had a female manager in my teens who was the double of him, creeped us all out 😬

His 1973 hit, Do you wanna touch me, was a little creepy, even for 1973. Went something like “Do you wanna touch me? Here? There? Where?”.

    Yuck.

Musician gets unpopular. His songs stop getting played on radio.

But yes, the press statement is a bit silly

The removal of music from stores is more interesting which is starting to happen with R Kelly

As for other musicians with young tastes. It's always interesting to check how 'cool' they are and then check the public reaction. Gary Glitter was hounded when it was still just rumours. Jimmy Page doesn't get much heat for the way he picked up a 14 year old and then went on to 'date' for the next year. Then there's Bowie..

I don’t think I actually know a Gary Glitter song to be honest so I could well hear his music and never know .

How far are radio stations going to carry this? No more eagles , stones , led Zeppelin, Bowie and that’s just the ones that come to mind.

Ive never heard this song , don’t plan to either

Shot his bass player in the chest , quite likely killed one of his wives too.
