Back on topic, I used to love English comedy shows in the late 70s and 80s. The Two Ronnies, Benny Hill (he was a bit naughty and I was pretty young, the olds didn't seem to mind me watching though..), the Goodies. And apart from Benny it was all good wholesome clever stuff

Yeah was good stuff, used to love Benny Hill!

Assume Already mentioned, but Only Fools & Horses was great...rewatched alot of that recently on one channel, some humour has aged well, others funny but wouldnt be acceptable by some.

    Hogans Heroes was good too

Oh god, please don’t let this thread turn into a discussion on wanking techniques. If it does you’ve all only got yourself to blame when a thinly disguised version of yourself appears in one of @Mokey ‘s books.

I thought Get Smart and Hogans Heroes were great. Not as clever as UK comedy, but good fun

I think we were lucky in NZ as we got the best mix of US and UK shows which I don't think was as prevalent even in Oz.

Yeah, the chandelier cleaning incident was as close to comedy perfection as anything I've ever seen.

Edit: ... and Grandad speaking German.

I was going to add that, started in 1989. It's best years were in the 1990s...

Are we talking shows of the 80s or just old shows in general now?

Thread started about 80’s shows but as it was for me part of growing up in that era was the countless repeats of older shows from the 60’s and 70’s

They always showed reruns of I dream of Genie and Bewitched too. I preferred the genie myself
