We always used to watch That's Incredible and Solid Gold. Cathy Lee Crosby was easy on the eye

Don't think Cheers has had a mention - I watched a lot of it again on the Jones channel and it had aged well.

Never as good after Diane left.

@canefan I think I was too young to appreciate the campiness of Batman

@Nepia Didn't like Joe 90 Capt Scarlett was the best I vaguely remember watching Supercar which was Andersons first series at a friend of my parents

This was in the days as I said of one channel and even adults would watch the shows "isn't it clever you can barely see the strings"

Batman was on Friday nights at about 7pm (I guess) and we'd always have takeaways, usually from the Greek fish and chip shop (my Mum was raised Catholic) and then later from the KFC across the road. I as allowed to buy lollies from the dairy while we waited and I always used to get the money (the NZ coin ones) lollies. That's now tied completely into Batman with me.

@dogmeat UFO was my favourite from the Andersons. I loved Skydiver, which was a submarine whose front launched to become the coolest fuckoff anti-alien fighter plane. Ed Straker's car was also pretty cool.

I'll be surprised at this one, but anyone remember Lancelot Link Secret Chimp? On on Sunday afternoons and it had a cast of dressed up chimps smoking and drinking like a debauched PG Tips. They'd never be able to make it now.

Others they wouldn't dare make: Love Thy Neighbour, which had a black family and a white one living next to each other. The wives were best friends but the black guy called the white one Honky while the white guy (Jerry Booth??) called him Nig Nog. That was pretty much the extent of the "comedy". I recall the black lady was hot, the white one not so much.

Some Mothers Do Have Em, which I remember being hilarious but my memory may be faulty on that front. The main character's effeminacy would get called out now I feel.

Dick Emery Show, his cross dressing wouldn't pass for comedy as what's funny about trans people?

The Black and White Minstrel Show. This was still showing in NZ periodically when I had left home to go flatting, so late 70s. What the fuck were they thinking? Used to be on Saturday night prime time in the 60s.

Till Death Us Do Part. The satire would go over people's heads and just be construed as straight out racism

Curry & Chips. Despite 2 geniuses of UK comedy being in it (Spike Milligan and Sykes) there's no denying the whole premise was just one long "Paki" joke

It Ain't Half Hot Mum. Browned up white actors playing Indians? Not in 2019. Nor is calling the camp character Gloria a poofter

In the mid to late 80s these guys and their contemporaries dominated the box for me and most of my mates

A mate and I have been talking about this a lot recently. We were pretty big wrestling fans at uni (the Raw is War era, the end of WCW). My kids are starting to get in to it now, and it's shit.

We were blessed in a way to have these guys as our introduction. Roided up weight lifters who were all mental made for some fucking great TV. Mean Gene playing it straight and letting these absolute lunatics sound off.

Raw is War was great, more professional, bit darker. But the WWF was larger than life, and just fucking amazing.

    ....and just about all dead

@canefan when I was about 9 or 10 they would show the WWF about 10:30 or 11pm on a Thursday night. My older sister would wake my brother and I up to sneak into the lounge and watch it while the olds were asleep. Great times.

My kids will sadly never experience stuff like that given they everything on a platter because of the interweb.

All the good shit was on late at night. Fortunately we had a VHS and I was well versed in using it

I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it and all the kids at school did and they'd talk about it constantly. When I finally was able to watch I was confused that there wasn't two teams because all the kids at school talked about the good guys and the bad guys like they were on two opposing teams.

I don't know why the fuck I never thought to tape it.
