@Duluth no mention of Perofeta despite ABs saying they would have picked him ahead of Cameron last year if fit.

Man NZ rugby journos mostly stink.

@KiwiMurph Pefofeta being picked would worry me just as much as Cameron. Way too green in SR.

    @shark

Tom Taylor plays at 13 for Pau these days, Colin Slade is their fullback and Simon Mannix their coach.

I understand if Perofeta was playing rugby.

James Marshall is also an option as he will be returning for the Canes this Friday. Experienced head on his shoulders and quality at running the team but there could be ?? around his goal kicking.

Another leftfield name to add to the mix if you are looking for experience:

Just posted this in the RWC forum.
    The AB's will take a third #10.
    Why?
because imagine the colletive shit-fit we would have if Beaudy or Richie got injured against a minnow.

And also because we play two minnows is the very reason they will take a third #10, because these are the exact games that a third #10 should start in, because they're fucking minnows.

Should Beaudy or Richie go down, you'd want the third #10 having been in and around the AB environment and had some time in the saddle, and those two games v minnows and maybe the one v Tonga before we go is the best and most perfect opportunity.

Sounds ridiculous but I'd take Dan Carter if he looks like he might heal from that neck thing, he could do the job off the bench surely. Experience, and also been playing in Japan.
After death and taxes, you can be sure the selectors are going over every option.

Don't dispute that. My point was it was shoddy journalism not to mention him.

@westcoastie You could play a prop at 10 against those minnows.

@KiwiMurph He has been injured for a long time, hasn't he? Not so strange to forget him. Out of sight ...

    Fark that'd be funny.

This week, we've named Ofa at 10. We're keen to see how he goes 😃

@antipodean yes you could, (I'd give Dane Coles a go if we're talking about front-rowers) but you wouldn't in a quarter or semi, and if you needed to (touch wood we don't) you want to have a back-up 10, who has played as part of our systems.

Say the move Ben Smith to 10, then fine - yes its robbing Peter to pay Paul, but at least Jordie or Havili at 15, on the balance of things is better than any of our other options at 10 currently. I just want whomever is our third #10 to play their vs those minnows, so they've had time in the saddle.

The could just pick two five eights for the WC (I see there is also a Herald article about this). Very risky, but in that case the coaches could use the pool minnow games to trial different combinations (as they have in the past) to test a scenario where both five-eights go down, so I could see Jordie, Ben Smith, or Crotty be used there at some point in those games, to cover for a last minute injury.

Nevertheless, for the RC, they have to bring in some one else.

Could we set up a poll? I’ll bet on Otere Black, which freaks the shit out of me; he has a very small body of work.

I would have thought Otere Black was comfortably ahead of the rest. He's solid enough, definitely nowhere near as bad as some on here make him out to be.

Problem is after BB, Mo'unga, & Dmac they all have a very small body of work. I guess Hunt is the most experienced - he's not getting the game time tho?

I am of the opinion they won't take a third for the RWC, honestly any of the utility backs could do it vs the two minnows*.

For the RC they'll take Black, I guess, unless Perofuture comes back fit and firing.

Perofeta led the Blues to a victory over the B&I Lions. He'll be fine.

if he makes the squad, ma'a probably still has the best passing game and option taking of any nz inside back... i'd be more comfortable with him there than crotty or perenara. need a fair bit of kicking from elsewhere though.
