Should it be a crime to publicly expose your own governments crimes?
Wouldn't it depend if you spotted illegal activity and went thru established, independent confidential, whistle-blowing procedures (which exist in the police, armed forces and security services, In the UK you can go to your MP) first?
If that didn't work, you'd have some defence if you then went to the press.
Not sure that Chelsea Manning, Assange & Snowden did that - they seemed to just spray out all the stuff with little thought for the consequences

What is the plus point of doing something like that? What does he want to achieve?
Self gratification & beatification probably

@Victor-Meldrew nice one thanks. Got confused as some painted him as an independent journalist.
Apparently the sex charges were dropped in 2017. Some commentators with some credibility think he's performed some useful role in calling out government behaviour. "Hero" seems a bit of a stretch though
Again, I don't know enough
Good video, I now need to see another with the other point of view. Any recommendations anyone?

It’s not actually that good of a video , there’s been a lot of misinformation about his sex crimes spread by his supporters.
First up , the charges were dropped? It’s a bit hard to prosecute someone who’s holed up in an embassy in another country. They have until 2020 before they have to drop them completely.People downplay one of the charges as “ surprise sex” or to put it another way sec without consent or to put it another way rape . Neither woman consented to sex without a condom which I’ve seen scoffed at as not rape . It’s actually a crime in NZ too.
Then there’s the prosecutors , the first didn’t pursue the charges the second decided there was enough to go to trial . The second prosecutor Marianne Ny has been subject to a smear campaign ever since online and apparently only laid charges at the behest if the US govt . There’s no proof of that , hence my parallels with Russiagate , Assanges supporters “ know “ this is true so they keep saying it .
One of his victims lives in hiding , her address appeared online and she is unable to work . Not surprisingly she still wants him to face his charges in court .
This is a separate issue from his hacking but it’s disappointing to see the likes of Tim Pool and Sargon downplaying what an utter creep Assange is .

Is the non-redacting claim an accepted fact or is it just an opinion that is going out there?
Appears to be fact.
" WikiLeaks has published the sensitive personal data of hundreds of ordinary people, including sick children, rape victims and people with mental health problems, an investigation has revealed..
The Saudi diplomatic cables alone hold at least 124 medical files, according to a sample analyzed by the Associated Press. Some described patients with psychiatric conditions, seriously ill children or refugees.
“This has nothing to do with politics or corruption,” said Dr Nayef al-Fayez, a consultant in the Jordanian capital of Amman who confirmed that a brain cancer patient of his was among those whose details were published to the web."
Morgan Tsvangiais communications with the state department were leaked by Wikileaks through the Guardian which got him a beating by Mugabes goons .

This is a thing of beauty.
Jimmy Dore, who until very recently was a regular contributor to The Young Turks, surprised as all hell that Tucker Carlson might not be the demon he had believed.
Regardless of thoughts on Assange both Dore and Carlson are standing on principle here, nice to see that in our polarised world.
-
@Rembrandt When it comes to Assange Jimmy Dore is a lying twat, I've seen him bleating about how "we" sentenced Assange to seven years solitary confinement . He voluntarily avoided rape charges and far from solitary confinement has been banging Pamela Anderson.
Edit I've finished the clip now, usual Dore fudging of facts. No mention of the people whos lives were put at risk by wikileaks or whos private details were needlessly leaked. The election interference nonsense is a distraction , they have done some bad things that he should answer for no he's in captivity. Also Dore and Tucker seem to forget the rape charges
Thens there usual self aggrandising bluster about how he's the only one that tells the truth and all the other news outlets are frauds.

Wikileaks revealed the identity of the last nine known jews living in Baghdad, some were pretending to be muslim to avoid having having a video of their beheading showing up on liveleak.

@jegga looks like his self imposed exile has merely delayed the inevitable. No word on Sweden (or was it Norway?) Wanting him first?
Not sure , Sweden won’t extradite him if there’s a chance he can face the death penalty.
Personally I’d love to see him convicted of rape first, there’d be a few die hard fanboys that’d say it’s a bogus conviction but it’d be tough for anyone with an ounce of integrity to try and claim a man with two rape convictions is a hero. -

That was always a bs argument to avoid having to face the rape charge.
What's even more hilarious is how this guy is a hero/villain to the left or right depending on what he digs up. During the Iraq war he was lefty scum, but during the US election Hannity was interviewing him like a pal.

The Sweden was more likely to extradite him was a huge reach even for the activist tards that managed to convince themselves that the two women he’s accused of raping were CIA honeypots sent to entrap him .
Seeing Assange interviewed on Fox in such a glowing way was a highlight of the election campaign.

It's the comments of his supporters which crack me up. E.g. His sentence for jumping bail is now “a question of life and death for Mr Assange”.
Though the judge summed it up nicely - "It's not for you, Mr Assange, to decide the nature or extent of rape investigations against you"

I would have paid good money to be in the courtroom to see him say that to the creep.

I'm sure this will come up in court regarding his grubby habit of removing condoms and having unprotected sex with women while they are asleep.
"Often I sat in large groups and listened to Julian boast about how many children he had fathered in various parts of the world," Domschiet-Berg claimed.
"He seemed to enjoy the idea of lots and lots of Julians, one on every continent. Whether he took care of any of these alleged children, or whether they existed at all, was another question."
According to police documents, another witness claimed that Assange had "at least" four children. It is unknown where the children are located or who their mothers are.
