Hard to believe we're only three days away from an election, it's been more low-key than most I can remember.
Shorten seems destined for a victory, though not in the 'landslide' category. Not a horrible result for the Libs considering where they were about 9 months ago.
The interesting dynamic for me has been the News Corp vs Shorten battle, similar to the Labor vs Alan Jones vibe in the NSW election. I do feel the tide is slowly turning against hyper-partisan outlets like the Telegraph, and Shorten has made real mileage out of the Tele's front-page smash about his mum.
Will also be interesting to watch a few individual seat results - Dutton in Dickson, Abbot in Warringah, Phelps in Wentworth, Kevin Andrews in Menzies.
Tipping Shorten with a five seat majority, which will be slightly disappointing for Labor.

It all hinges on the senate - with the new senate voting rules in full force this time (after reduced quotas last time due to the double dissolution) there should be less wildcard senators and the opportunity is there to get a majority in the senate (with some cross-bench support) if there is a big national swing to Labor.
If it's a bit more piecemeal they very well may end up in a similar position to last time needing to keep the Greens onside while reaching out to more centrists parties in order to pass legislation.
Geez it's going to be a sad old sight if Shorten loses agian.

I couldn't really care and will happily vote informal (it's academic anyway since Milton Dick from Labor will walk it in my electorate). It should be a Labor landslide, but Bill Shorten is a horrible piece of work and Scott Morrison seems affable enough. Basically you have a govt that don't deserve to be returned and an opposition that don't deserve govt. Awesome!
Would be hilarious if Shorten loses though. The shît fight will be monumental.

Anyone got thoughts on the Conservatives?
I've met Kevin Bailey who seems like a genuine bloke but I haven't had much of a chance to go through their policies. I can't vote but I've been asked if I'd like to help them out on Saturday, Need to decide if its a hill worth being assaulted/spat on on considering I'm in a loony lefty area.

Presuming the swing is uniform, Labor will win 77 seats based on the latest Newspoll (consistently the most accurate poll). Considering the ineptitude of the circus that has been the Coalition, that is a damning reflection on Labor generally and Shorten specifically. He trails in preferred Prime Minister against everyone and everything.
When you look at the macroeconomic clouds on the horizon, add them to Labor's stated policies, this country is about to finally learn a valuable lesson having escaped a technical recession for an entire generation. I think I'll go back to simply not paying tax outside of GST.

@NTA Dare I say it, but Tones has a point here. Without Bob's gravitas the big reforms emanating from the Campbell Report wouldn't have happened. Contrast that with the Labor Party today and it's chalk and cheese.
And the clock collecting treasurer would be a trivia question at best.

Tony Abbott, showing just how much of a fucking laughable piece of shit someone can aspire to.
What's so bad about that? Most opposition pols say something similar, i.e didn't agree with their policies, but good person etc. Seriously Nick, you need to start charging that bloke rent for all the time he's been living in your head.
He called him a great PM ffs. What a horrible person.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel he had a crack at "more recent Labor policy" in a statement about the death of one of our greatest ever PMs.
What a fucking plonker.
Could just have easily said "worked with all parties of the day" and left it at that, but no. Had to be a snide little shit.

See my post above.
And contrast the last 15-20 years with the previous 20 and it doesn't look pretty
Even scomo was gracious and well spoken by comparison, and he's a gibbering idiot

And that was so bad why? He's right. The Hawke cabinet was arguably the best ever. Contrast that with Shorten, that Wong bloke and co. Hawke himself would probably agree.
Btw there's some next level bile on that Twitter link. Probably from the same people lamenting the lack of decorum and decency in politics. Some people seriously need a mirror. How hateful do you have to be to follow someone you despise so that you can be outraged at their every utterance and then call them a fückwit with the rest of the mob. I'm no fan of Tony Abbott (I wish he would resign from politics - his time is over) but he's got far more decency and class than those hateful idiots losing their shït and spewing nonsense every time he scratches his head

From Keating's statement...
"In what was our last collaboration, Bob and I were delighted to support Bill Shorten last week in recounting the rationale we employed in opening Australia to the world. "Bob, of course, was hoping for a Labor victory this weekend. His friends too, were hoping he would see this.
He could have just said I was happy to see Bob last month.

It has to be about Keating.
