@Machpants A rather damming Article. you could also as far as terrible Referring performances add Pickerall and O'Keefe who have been highlighted as being Shit this year and the standard of officials this season has been shocking.
I would hate to see The SR or WC Finals decided by these incompetent muppets,Or Some Northern Hempishere muppets the French officials come to mind.

Scott Barrett totally dominated physically and at set piece by etzebeth, he’s never going to be big enough to be a dominant international lock.

We missed Reads presence from last week, Whetu Douglas and Romano showed good physicality when they came on. I think Douglas has surpassed Taufua as our best 6.

They probably should have started Douglas at 8 when Read pulled out - simply to give us a bit more height in the lineout.

I think Read's been the world's best third lineout option for a number of years and it's easy to take the work he does there for granted. Whitelock, Read and Scott Barrett is a pretty useful jumping unit - especially if there's a 'decent fourth jumping option playing blindside - e.g. Douglas.

But, Barrett, Blackadder, Todd and Taufua are lacking height compared to those big Jaapie units.

I think the only steal we got was Whitelock late in the game- when Romano was on and Barrett had gone to blindside. A bit more height pressure.

@taniwharugby Yeah tbh. Take the refs out of the equation bydominating your opponents in the first place.

See to me that is a bit of a cop out.

So what happens when two teams that are evenly matched and play to their ability and it’s a close contest? The ref is still very much part of the game still.

Anyway in relation to this game there weren’t many opportunities for either side with both bringing a strong defensive game. Lots of errors from both sides and it felt like a playoff game.

Garbage calls. Both the 'forward pass' and 'high tackle' late in the game. Absolute horse shit.

That aside, the Stormers are dross and er should have beaten them up as we did the Bulls. Etzebeth, the other lock, D'Allende and the skipper are their only class played. Shitsoff is borderline.

    Bah.

@African-Monkey but we want close contests dont we, rather than one side dominating the other, meaning we want to not notice the officials and have the game swing on players under pressure or moments of brilliance from players or the team, not moments where the officials are so wrong it determines the outcome of the game.

@Stargazer Jonker does not know or understand the Law that makes a forward pass a forward pass if anyone thinks the Ennor pass to Reece was forward you are a complete idiot and have know idea what constitutes a Forward pass.

Whilst I mostly agree with the point, I got a wee smile out of the incorrect grammar when calling people idiots 😊

I think WC year is disruptive for everyone, with certain players being rested, others wanting and needing to be match fit, injury ravages some - while others desperate to break in to the national team will take every opportunity to show what skills they have to offer.
Analysis is king. Sometimes we can over-analyse as well. We don't know to what extent coaches have been "told" to hold players back / to not show any array of tactics . We also are not privy to what tactics coaches have developed / are developing for the WC. I think NZ in recent WC years has held back and tended to play a more conservative brand of rugby.
I just hope we get all our players match-fit and firing come October-November.

See I’m not the only one who thinks there are large barrels of powder at NZRU headquarters...

@Machpants This article just wants me to reiterate the earlier comment. We do NZ and Aus still bother with this. Surely the money on offer from SA is not going to that good going forward. Supersport won't be able to justify paying a massive increase for the TV rights going forward, as their subscriber base is actually shrinking. And if the Supersport money is dependent on SA teams being in the comp, just leave. It's not like Supersport won't pay for the rights of it's a comp not involving SA teams. I mean one can argue that SA needs NZ just as much if not more. This game is a classic example. Average ticket prices were double than all other games and it's the only game that will get close to full house for the year

Hearing a few rumours about some bad behaviour from a couple of crusaders players out on the town after the game.

Hopefully unsubstantiated, because they don’t sound very good.
