@canefan and its the kids (and other people too) that suffer for their parents numpty-ness. Which is the really shit part of it all. If it only impacted the person making the dumb decision etc, then fill ya boots and see ya later. That would work for drunk driving too!

Unfortunately midwifery seems to attract these sorts of dangerous loons.

@jegga not sure that is entirely fair...this is an industry where part of thier pay is driven by them delivering a baby or less pay if the Dr has to do it.
Most people I know have nothing but utmost admiration and respect for thiers, with the care and mum and baby at the forefront of everything, however I think like with anything, there will be some nutters, and this one sounds like a dumbarse.
I heard they were saying she may need re-training and to go over the processes...I suspect lack of knowledge about how to birth is least of her problems...makes you wonder how many she has gotten away with giving placebos.

Yeah have to agree with TR on this, the ones my ex and I had were absolutely awesome. In fact my ex wanted to become one but time/our boys etc meant she never had the opportunity.

It would be unfair if I said all of them are dangerous nutters, a decent minority are anti vaxx, militant about homebirths , anti science and other dangerous quackery . The one we used was good, I know other people who came across these sorts of loons.
This loon was behind getting Helen Clark when she was health minister to kick the dr out of the delivery room and midwifes being in charge of home births, she was also an anti vaxxer, anti science and a socialist '

"Hes not prescribing drugs" No the crook is prescribing water . This explains the scam quite nicely http://darryl-cunningham.blogspot.com/2010/06/homeopathy.html

@booboo my comment was largely tongue in cheek...one of my neighbours is a Homeopath, and some of the shit she comes out with
C'mon cut her some slack. Human excrement is a well known homeopathic remedy for everything from cold sores to cancer

@jegga
A level 10 tertiary Doctoral Degree was required to obtain the title 'doctor' in New Zealand.Rehan's Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University in India only translates to a level seven graduate diploma, certificate or bachelors degree.
Rehan said Dr Preet was simply a nickname to avoid confusion over the pronunciation of his name, but he was free to use the title as it had been awarded to him in India.
"Why is it a problem?" he asked Stuff.
At the risk of upsetting people who don't understand why generalisations tend to exist, none of that surprises me.
