It's called a baboon mate, the ones that look like they have a prolapsed anus. I'm not sure a baboon is the right animal. HBs are generally quite small, yap a lot and are often a pain in the arse. Chihuahua? Or a Jack Russell terrier

Nice work NTA.
I note SA falls into the kak turnaround camp. Both on minimum and average. But I don't really see an issue. (Note: if we lose to Italy it is of course all going to be blamed on the short turnaround )

Glad World Rugby have made it a lot fairer than it used to be.

I'd still like to see a Plate competition to run with the Cup as well - top 8 play Cup QF. Next 4 go straight into Plate SF.

I'd definitely be in favour of something like that. If you're Canada, or Namibia etc. it keeps you with something to play for.

Yeah seems win-win doesn't it? Fans get more to watch, more games to go to. Hosts get more people sticking around, more tickets sold. Players get something to look forward to even after they've lost their first 2 matches.

Yeah LOVE the idea of a plate competition. Makes getting 3rd in the pool more meaningful, esp if there are 6 teams per pool in future WCs which I hope there will be. Also it gives lower ranked teams a taste of knockout World Cup rugby which is super exciting.

And as it's straight to SF, its one week further advanced in scheduling tyhan the main knockouts, i.e. two plate SFs on the same weekend as the four cup QFs, then the plate final the weekend of the cup SFs. That way the cup final and cup 3rd/4th games are the only matches on the final weekend which is as it should be, no distractions. I'd do away with the idea of a plate 3rd/4th playoff tho.

@TeWaio another one which popped into my head while reading your post - also more work/experience for the officials, which cannot be a bad thing.

@Bones Yep, and if there was meaningful prize money attached to the plate, then it could be a decent windfall for whichever (likely minor) union won it. Imagine if one of the PI teams were able to pay their players a sizeable win bonus that came with the plate over and above their usual match fees for a WC?

Also in 2015 you would have had the comedy situation of hosts England playing Japan in one plate semi, and Georgia vs Italy in the other.
