Russian 10 lacking creativity is not necessarily a bad thing - they don't necessarily have the tools to use it anyway. They've got some nice hands to get out to 13 or 15 joining the line, but Ireland are reading it really now so they need to mix it up.

Russia looked knackered at the end of that half. I sense a bloodbath

Can someone please explain how Aki's forearm lead to the neck / head in the truck up leading to Kearney's try was any different from Kerevi v Patchell?

    Garces was right there too.

No replay and my rudimentary pause technique in real time might not have shown the whole picture.

    But certainly worth a look.

Made the same comment earlier on a WhatsApp thread with a bunch of Irish mates.

    Stone silence still....

Why the fuck are Russia kicking for goal?

If you're Irish I'm sure you don't give a fuck, but jesus they're a boring team to watch.

More chance of scoring a try than that guy kicking a goal

Seriously, how the hell did this team get to be ranked no 1 in the world?

Imagine losing to Japan and being unable to make a statement against a mostly 14 man Russia. Maybe lulling the AB's into a false sense of security

Beating the AB's was one part of it :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

One does wonder whether they peaked a bit too early?

EDIT: mind you, Eng circa 2003 was also a bit past their peak and still lifted Bill so I'll keep quiet for now

I'm reliably informed that end of year friendlies don't count.

Ireland are definitely holding a lot back. None of Schmidt's power plays have been seen over the last few rounds. They will not be easy in the quarters.
