    Another launch just a few minutes ago. It is crazy that it will be so routine soon it barely makes the papers

    @canefan aren't all rockets? Very 1950s idea of what a rocket should look like.

    I think Flash Gordon would be proud, and that was 1936.

    @taniwharugby said in Rocket Lab:

    well they were talking to Jacinda about that this morning and I wasnt paying that much attention (cos there was more pregnancy talk) but the gist I got was there was some legislation that had to be rushed through for them to do the launches, but is further stuff that is needed going forward...not to mention the sign off required to put something into space from the Universe Police, USA 🙂

    I just did some googling and it looks like there is no 'Universe police'. There are bodies that keep track of frequencies etc but no actual rules in place.
    The caveat to that is that it is expected that everyone play nice with each other as it is quite easy to get revenge on someone pissing you off by blocking or degrading signals.
    Scariest bit is that it sounds incredibly easy for a rogue country with capability to upset everything up there and bring down all comms.

    Ha, just reading back on this thread ands this post of mine. @taniwharugby was actually on the right track it seems. Since posting that I have had dinner with a guy whose task for a couple of years was smoothing the way and obtaining the permissions from the US.

    Around 35 minutes to launch if anyone is interested

    Live Stream | Rocket Lab

    Live Stream | Rocket Lab

    A live webcast of the launch will begin on this page approximately 20 minutes prior to the target T-0 time.

    @Crucial I clicked on it, it now says 48:08, 48.07, 48.06...you get the picture

    Did you know that the countdown from 10 to lift off is an American thing? The Russians just 'go'.

    Very cool. About half again as big as the SA-2 Iraq chucked at me, and a lot less launch cloud and smoke trail. Very 'clean' in that respect.
