I went to this in London 15 years ago and fcking hated it. Conversely I thought Les Mis was unbelievably good.

Thought I hated musicals until my cousin's wife got me a ticket to see Les Mis in London. Absolutely blew me away, reckon I must have seen it 4 times now. No other musical has come close, (We will Rock you/Rock of ages/Chicago/Evita/Phantom/Book of Morman ranged from just tolerable to good..but not justifying the price.

Really looking forward to 1917, reviews are glowing and it is a genre I like.

@chimoaus reviews were glowing for Dunkirk, and it was pretty awful - art rather than war movie. Hopefully this is not the same.

@Machpants I didn't mind Dunkirk, saw it at the movies which is a rarity these days, the dogfight sequences in the spitfires was a highlight. But yes it was a little hollywood with some of the scenes. Might take the old father-in-law to 1917.

TH dog fight scenes were nice, but the end (where he had the infinite glide mode enabled) was terrible. And the decision for no talking was so immersion breaking, no one is going to not say thanks/cheers/wahtever after you've just saved your life - jarring as. I saw it at the cinema too, but I went expecting a war movie and got an art house piece. With real Spitfires and (quasi) 109s, which was nice, but I've played with the real thing.

Let me get this right; the premise is two men go wandering off into previously enemy held areas to prevent a regiment walking into an ambush? Because there's no other way to get the message through?

The film making is going to have to be awesome for me to to not sit there saying "bullshit" to myself the whole way through.

I think I'd rather watch Blackadder 4 and Journey's End again.

@Machpants 100% re the gliding dramatic scene, one of my bug bears in any TV/Movie is the bullshit factor, like that would never happen in real life. Its ok in fantasy, action but I struggle when it is supposed to be based on reality. I was in the Police for years so I have a sore spot when it comes to inaccurate Police shows etc.

@antipodean I believe "Messengers" were how they got orders around in the first world war? No idea tbh, but judging by reviews it is very well done.

Me too, aside from Nolan being a dick not using effects (despite being the Imax guy) to make it look like there were more than 5 people on the beach.

Now I really wanna see it!

Universal Notifies Theaters 'Cats' Is Being Updated With "Improved Visual Effects"

The move is unheard of for a finished film already in release.

How many lives does Cats have?

On Friday — the movie's opening day — Universal notified thousands of theaters they will be receiving an updated version of Tom Hooper's troubled film with "some improved visual effects," according to a copy of the memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

The move is unheard of for a finished title already in release, according to cinema operators and Hollywood studio executives. Insiders say it is being done at Hooper's request.

Cats — which has been ravaged by critics — is in need of any help it can get at the box office after opening to $2.6 million on Friday and receiving a C+ CinemaScore from moviegoers.

Just watched There will be Blood again.

Superb movie with some incredible acting. You can see why DDL got an Oscar nod for this. Well deserved.

"Yes, Darling. I don't care if he has been rogering the Duke of York with a prize winning leek! He shot my pigeon!"

@antipodean Your "Page not found" picture looks like a candidate for "rat au van" as well.

In the shadow of the moon. Yeah nah. I wouldn't bother. Neat concept but weirdly acted and pretty shit in the end.
