This seems totally out of proportion to the actual match. We put up a decent total, but Eden Park is probably one of the easiest grounds in the world to chase on. I don't think we can really take anything serious from that game.

Except that our bowling is average at best?

3 of our batsmen got 50s and we finished with a strike rate over 200 - hard to put too much on the batting.

Maybe, and it was batting in Aus that I talked about, but EP was a road with boundaries that are a joke. Setting a target on that is tough I know, but I miss the aggression of McCullum. I never thought 200 was going to be enough.

Fitting that the 7s and t20 on at the same time. Definite parallels in terms of the fickleness of the result with " on the day" performances being more prevalent than a decider of the superior cricket team.

Does anyone remember the results of t20 games played a month after?

I'm one of those curmudgeons that thinks international teams shouldn't play t20 series, ( fine with a tournament though), but I also acknowledge that the revenue trumps the contest purity

It's annoying that the fielding has been below par in recent times - missing runouts and dropping catches and - especially - missing these when it's top order batsmen.

Bowling - well, we don't have Boult or Ferg for quite a bit of this series, so that is going to test the paddling pool. But, I'm interested to see how Hamish Bennett goes - he's not played as many international matches as he's probably warranted. And Tickner got a few through at 140+ kmh - which is better than I thought he was capable of.

As above - the batting was good last night, given that we know the Indian attack is better than ours - especially what we fielded last night. We're back on our flat pitches and the Indians don't have towering fast bowlers to bounce us off the park, so we should make enough runs to make for competitive games.

Interestingly, I heard John Morrison on Radiosport yesterday (amidst lots of waffling) being very direct about how NZ Cricket administrators sold the troops down the river by agreeing to play the first Oz test in Perth and under lights. Something along the lines of "Who in their right minds would agree to play the fastest and bounciest attack on the world's fastest and bounciest pitch first up on tour?". He thought we were shot to pieces after that test.

The discussion was at about 2.20 pm if anyone is interested to listen.

100%, you and I talked about it during the match. It was high risk playing the pink ball first up and it backfired badly in the end. NZC really needs some admins with balls.

Munro really struggling tonight, 13 from 15 at the moment, swinging at thin air half the time.

Guppy getting along ok 25 from 16.

39 from 5 overs... below the required scoring rate.

Guptill gone 48/1 from the power play.

Kane, CdG & Rossco are going to have to bat very very well to get us to a competitive score here.

Need a minimum of 150 from the last 14 overs

Munro gone for a battling 26 from 25, probably a good thing.

Is is the other Colin’s night? I hope so, as we’re looking rubbish right now.

    68/2 from 8.4

Our plan is to win by scoring fewer runs than Friday night.

CdG reverting to genuine Village again.

After watching India bat with such elegance & ease the other night, and now watching us struggle on a good batting pitch, is very very tough.

Not sure how long they'll persist with CdG at 4.

It's got an element of wishful thinking - i.e. it would be great if it came off, but I'm not sure it will regularly enough.

FFS, CdG lobs one back to Jadeja.

If we’re going to lose, can we at least go down swinging? We look like they’re happy to hit singles at the moment.

There is only 10 overs left guys, and we need a shit load of runs.

Edit: sorry forgot I’m 8 minutes behind after being interrupted a bit earlier.

This looks like being a summer of meek surrenders at this rate.

Just play England at Bay Oval forever.

    Only 4 mins behind now.

Awful innings from Kane, blocked and hit singles for 14 from 20.

I don’t think India’s bowling has been that great to have us 81/4 from 12.3.

Let’s hope this pitch is much harder to bat on than it was the other night, and we’re not just battling like incompetent numpties.

When was the last time we hit a boundary?

21/2 from that last 5 over split.

I’m sick of the commentators gushing over the Indian bowlers and how amazing they are, yes they’ve been good, but the BCs have been equally poor, yet no comment from them about that. If the batting is shit and deserves a serve, they need to say so.

I don’t recall seeing so many swing and misses or non-timed shots in any game of cricket in recent memory.

    Bloody PC commentary.

Those who were ranting about our performance last time are going to be apoplectic about this.
