After years of boasting that I was different to everyone else, that my metabolism permitted me to eat any and every thing, it dawned on me that my pants were much tighter than they used to be and I caught a very unflattering reflection in the mirror - I knew I'd put on some weight, but this wasn't something I could continue to ignore.

So after the merriment of the overindulgence season I decided to collect some data:

Weight 95.1kg - Hmm alarm bells. I used to play at that weight and that was when I actually went to the gym and ran every day.

Chest: 102.5 cm

Waist: 99 cm

That highlighted the problem. It used to be a 82 cm waist. That's not going to happen again, but there's no reason it can't be >90 cm. So I'm changing my diet and will use this as a log of progress.

I'm only 5ft 10.5 and was 97kg last night, but my measurements are quite different to Antipodean, most measures say I am 15kg+ over weight, aside from a a bit too much round the waist, I am not far off where I'd like to be, so height vs weight are mor eoften irrelevant

178 cm or 5'10" in ye olde medieval measure which clinically puts my BMI at 30, not that I give two shits about BMI as I haven't been in the "healthy range" since I was running 3 x 3 min ks.

Yep BMI is ridiculously outdated. I'd need to be 6 foot 6 or 7 to be supposedly 'healthy'

I have over the last 7 mths lost 20 kgs. I have only just dropped out of the obese range of bmi and while I still need / want to lose more to get down to the very top of the normal range I need to lose another 15 kg. Which will make me lighter than I was at 18. When I was a skinny fuck. I've already lost 26 cms off my waist. I 'll happily lose another 10 k and remain overweight

Bloody Mad Index - I'm a shade under 6'1" and yet 65kg is considered within the healthy range. At the weight I'd be either anorexic or a Tour de France cyclist!

I'm 28.6 at 98 KG.

I'd like to be 93 KG at some point this year but still would be an "overweight" 27.2. In the past I've had pretty well defined Abs at that weight but I'm older now. I'll have to find out if that is still the case. If so, I'll be OK with being "overweight"!

This time last year I was 30.9 BMI at 105.7 KG. That was fat.

Right first week up. Gentle introduction and by that I mean I've stopped eating two burgers for lunch every day and I actually went to the gym, which was full of resolutions...

Weight dropped by a miserable 0.6kg and waist decreased by two centimetres.

Weight 94.4kg

Waist: 97 cm

Teams used to do laps around Andy Goode for training....imagine him and Thomas Waldrom playing at the same time not to mention a couple of the props who appeared during the WC.

"Pie Fit" would be a best seller if it was actually achievable 🙂
