@Hooroo I don't think you are going to get much sympathy around here. You probably didn't need to give the "avoid" advice either, but duly noted.

Wasn't after sympathy, was merely doing a community service.....

I'm only interested in trying the "Impossible" burger, which sounds better than the others.

Thanks for taking the hit. Even though I wasn't ever planning to eat one. If I'm going to eat a vege burger the least they could do is not make it pretend to be meat

I'd probably try this eggplant parmigiana burger if it was offered, for example

@Hooroo It has a myoglobin like protein that makes it "bleed" like meat and gives it the iron flavour of beef.

Well I do feel slightly sorry for you that you even tried it.

This. My wife gets the vege burger from our local all the time, its a stack of mushrooms, beetroot, tomato, and other vege, and really pretty good. Way better than a bunch of minced legumes and lentils pretending to be something that they are not.

Or worse still a list of 'ingredients' that sound like a chemistry book and play havoc with your gut.

Nothing wrong in having a meatless meal, but it is entirely possible to make one simply out of real food.

That Egglant Parma one above looks alright. I'd eat that.

I have a couple of friends, proper meat eaters who love these burgers - they prefer the Burgers and Ribs version but will eat BK if that's all that's available.

I've had a bite of one, but I'll never eat a whole one!

I read the BK burger is absolutely loaded with estrogen, is there any truth to that? Guys are scared they'll grow tits if they eat too many

    Fuck I'll say.

Also, isn't the whole thing about being Vegan is because you have so much empathy for animals? Why then would you want to make your food look like a dead animal?

Haven't you answered your own question? It's about empathy towards animals not about disliking the taste of meat

The radical, outspoken nut jobs generally have that as their motivation I think, but a lot more people are going to plant based diets for health reasons (whether you believe it is healthier or not is personal choice and depends on what you read). I have found these types to be quite rational as they are doing it because they want to, for themselves, and don't preach.

I've been disturbed by the rise of low and no alcohol beers which I suspect are made for people who secretly just like to pee a lot but this is so so so much worse.

Once they are in your freezer they don't , so do vegans taste healthier?

@jegga I prefer my meat to eat meat. It's a moral standpoint - although there have been a few rabid vegans that I would have liked to remove from existence.

A guy at work went out and purchased a few for us to try today.

We all had half a burger. You could tell it wasn't meat but it was not unpleasant until about 15 mins later where everyone had a horrible after-taste in their mouth.

    Avoid.

Off to get a coffee to try and be rid of the taste

    Serves you right

I assume no one here was a business class customer when Air NZ had these on their menu?
