yeah I had heard some average reviews of S2, not to mention there is no continuation anyway as I think it is set about 30 years before S1?

I thought S2 was great, and all the people I know who have watched it (in the real world) thought so to - watch the first couple of episodes for yourself Cato to see.

Because of the tone of it I reckon you should have a bit of time between watching it and the original (kind of like how you'd be best to watch Paul Thomas Anderson films with gaps if his style could annoy you).

TR: It's a prequel with the Dad who runs the diner as one of the main characters. The main policewoman is a character (albeit a minor one as she's a young child).

FOTWD (SPOILERS): Good to know that the writers of FOTWD are carrying on with the stupidity from TWD. Lets leave the city gates open as we leave, then lets let loose a horde of zombies that kill numbers of people all so we can save 3 people. I have half an hour to go in the last episode.

If it has McShane and Olyphant as Swearengen and Bullock, it'll be great!

Show Me a Hero - David Simon's latest tv show (HBO mini series of 6 episodes). If you like The Wire, and like the socio-economic/community stuff as opposed to just the police stuff, then this show if for you.

Story is about the city of Yonkers being forced to build low income housing in wealthier (read white) areas of the city.

It stars Oscar Issac (Poe from Star Wars), Winona Ryder, Catherine Keener and a bunch of recognisable faces (Lester Freeman turns up in the later episodes).

I'll have to give that a look. After a few weeks of trying different recommended shows I kept getting left with a 'it was ok, but it's no The Wire'..so I've said to hell with it and started watching the wire again and somehow have very quickly gotten to the end of season 2. For some reason I remembered season 2 as being quite weak comparatively but this being my 3rd or 4th rewatch I've not found this at all having enjoyed every episode immensely. I notice I get a genuine almost pang of remorse whenever I hear the outro music come on indicating the end of a episode..cause this means as a functioning responsible adult it is time for bed and I certainly cannot sacrifice another hour of sleep for a show I have already seen a number of times..no matter how tempting.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

While I enjoyed it, it was a lot more Treme than The Wire or Generation Kill.

Finished the Man in the High Castle, quite enjoyed it.

Not a series that is action packed, but ticks along at a decent pace

[spoiler]So I assume the video clips are somehow a snap shot from an alternate worlds rather than propaganda tools as it is speculated early on.

I haven't read the book, but I believe that the film thing is for the TV series only. In the book the material was a novel that portrayed an alternate reality. I assume the point was that it showed a 'better' world than than the current reality and therefore undermined the current regimes.

The TV show looks to be playing a slightly more sci-fi angle with possibilities of parallel universes and hinting that the movie reels are somehow being transferred between them.

The good part is that is all really just the premise in which to study the behavior of the characters. The Nazi (Smith) grows quickly into a complex character with even more complexity to come.

Have you finished the series?

Cos the last reel certainly shows it is more than a 'better world' not to mention the trade minister and his meditating.

Apologies if it's been covered in the previous 108 pages but has anyone seen Vikings? I'm three episodes in and not hugely impressed so far. Not enough gratuitous violence and nudity so far. Does it get any better?

I thought there was some (well half nude) early on, Narcos did that, had a bit in the first couple and then all but stopped it, guess when they have a storyline (which Banshee doesnt really rely heavily on) they think they no longer need nudity, but it is always welcome.

Banshee makes GTA look realistic. Hood ( and others ) always end up half dead but it's nothing a few stiff drinks at Sugars and a good night of rooting can't fix and they're fighting fit in time for the next episode.

If you want to watch a good tv show then don't let the lack of nudity put you off - you could just watch some porn straight afterwards I guess.
