What is everyone here doing? Gyms still open? Feeling at risk?
Just interested in how well set up you all feel to keep motivated and working like you were going to the gym.
The gym my son trains out of in London has decided to remain open (with extra cleaning etc) for as long as possible and he is already doing home visits for clients. As marketing for his online training he has done a free home workout program ( https://www.wiredcoaching.com/fitness-programmes/covid-19 )
I'm trying to convince him to come home and just do his online stuff until this shit dies down but he is reluctant while he can still keep clients going.
How's it all panning out for you fitness inclined bunch?
Yesterday, the Virgin gym in Wimbledon was still active.

@junior where are you Junior? I also do all my running these days in 32-34 degree heat (Bali), with the added humidity it's just a totally different game. It's no longer about the legs, it's all about hydration and pacing and breathing. And weight - being a fat cnt is a definite disadvantage!
In the Gulf, where temps are currently climbing, but the humidity is still relatively low. Morning and evening running are fine but anything after about 9am is getting harder
-
I will continue my home based fitness as usual. Husband has stopped going the Gym but he mainly went swimming there so that will stop for a while, neither of us would trust the cleanliness of other people now....
-
I don't need to worry. I fucked my shoulder three weeks ago so the only thing I'm doing is rehab.
-
Pretty sure our gym is still open and it's usually pretty quiet...she'll be right with hand cleaner between different exercises right?
Have a bunch of dumbbells, a couple of kettlebells, skipping ropes at home as well as some cones and a ladder for sprint drills. Weather is getting a bit milder so might have to bust out to the park once or twice a week.
-
I train weights through the week , 3 nights , gym is still open and doing the new hygene thing where you have to disinfect after using each piece of equipment , I usually go around 2 - 3 in the afternoon , so its still fairly quiet then .
I mountain bike on weekends . both days , no probs there
-
My local gym (Owned by a good mate) is 24/7 and still open. Hand Sanitiser required on arrival and leaving but also placed everywhere so most are doing it throughout workouts. Whole place gets a big wipe down 3 timeโs a day. Iโm doing weights there 5 days a week but trying to do more of my cardio outdoors (as we really should anyway) so mountain biking or just on the streets if need be.
Wife runs two pilates studios which are still open for now. Similar approach to sanitising for attendees but also getting them to wipe down reformers pre and post workout with equipment we have supplied. Numbers are down as expected but some new joiners as their gyms have closed

Btw I think fitness is key at the best of times and even more so when difficult.
Heaps of free home training programmes out there is gyms are closed.
Also keep eating well, including lots of fresh brightly coloured veges is a must. Iโm supplementing heavy on vitamin C as well as zinc and vitamin D

Same here I take vit c with zinc , vit d and b complex every day on top of a healthy diet.๐๐ป I'm pretty sure they do something, I went through a stage a year ago getting every bug going and started those and felt the difference. Does anyone take magnesium? Heard good stuff about it.

Is that the one near Colliers Wood end? We lived a couple of minutes walk from there.
I never understood how there were enough virgins in Wimbledon for that gym to be viable.
If they close, Bounce (Wimbledon Park and New Malden) are still going with strong prevention.

Starting to cool off here, so the morning walk is back on IF I can get up early enough.
The bonus of this work from home thing during COVID is I probably don't need to.
Huh, It's been cool for a couple of weeks now. Shit summer (due to fires/torrential rain) and then winter started for a day last week.
Supposed to be a scorcher tomorrow though which will be nice.
On the actual exercise things, I did practice walks on the balcony over the last week when I was home with the remnants of my flu. It's doable ... my balcony is massive.

Doesn't count until it gets below 15C and even then, barely. You wuss.

Hey, if I have to close one of the lounge windows in the evening then it's cool!
