@Winger Who to believe? Doctors mate.
But which ones? Some swear by the Trump treatment. Others don't.
Ones not paid by Trump, have never donated to him or are jockeying for a job.
Plenty to chose from and that treatment isn’t looking promising at all.

Why do you think Trump has recommended this treatment.
Its cheap so no big profits for anyoneMy view is he's talked to honest doctors and they told him a cheap treatment is available
Cheap is not popular with many so its a battle between promoters of expensive treatments. And the cheap routeAnd now hes put his neck on the chopping block. Even though you don't believe him but fail to see what his incentive would be to do this. Its not money related so why do it. Except that hes got advice that he trusts and hes passing it on. and testing it himself

@booboo if you believe for a second he really is taking it. If you do I have a bridge to sell you
Pelosi now saying Trump shouldn't take hydroxychloroquine as it's dangerous for him particularly as he's morbidly obese.
Nancy's sure one outstanding physician to make such an observation from afar, and obviously knows much more of Trump's medical status that his own doctors.
Trump & Pelosi. Dumber & Dumber.

Because he's an idiot. The man has some of the best doctors in the world taking care of him, and if the article is to be believed he is ignoring their recommendation and taking this drug anyway.
Actual evidence suggests the drug may do more harm than good
The two studies discussed include a randomized controlled trial, the research gold standard

Because when Trump makes a mistake, usually talking about something he has no idea about, he doubles down on it.
Testing something on yourself is medically useless, it helps nobody. It's the equivilient of getting medical advice from celebrities (cough, cough Jenny McCarthy). We have a tried and tested scientific method to measure effectiveness and safety.
This approach might appeal to those who do their research online but it's completely useless.

How funny. In your haste to make some link to Trump being somehow on your side of big-pharma conspiracies you have failed to recognise that he holds a personal interest in the company that makes the drug. “No big profits”?
I very much doubt that he is even taking it. Just another diversion tactic to get everyone focused on something other than the huge case numbers and death rate.

Someone ghosted an excellent letter to the WHO from President Trump:
Good read but too many “likely” and “apparently “ additions to the evidence that detract from the weight of the conclusions.
Also omits that not only were the WHO working off what they had at the time, so were the US and Trump himself, praising both WHO and China even by late January. Accusations in hindsight are not evidence of deliberate acts.
If all of the conspiracy aspects were removed from this timeline it does however point to a damaging degree of incompetence by WHO officials whereby a bit more rigour and urgency could have reduced the impact.
Whether it would have reduced the spread by much is still debatable though. There is evidence that the spread around the world started before the incompetence by WHO and supposed “hiding” by China. The cat was already out of the bag before they started chasing it.Fault for actions by individual countries cannot be all explained away by finger pointing though. One thing that is clear from all the stats is that the actions of individual countries have had a big effect on the severity of the impact caused by any WHO incompetence. Trumps administration falls into the “we didn’t handle this very well “ category.

@Crucial There is a common denominator in the countries with the highest number of cases or rather the Top 3 in a couple of days time after Brazil overtakes Spain. US, Russia, Brazil. Totally incompetent lack of leadership with a focus more on denial and how they look than attempting to find a solution.
My biggest criticism of WHO is there cowardice over Taiwan, but they are hardly alone there.
China did some things right and some things wrong. US very little of the former and a shit load of the latter.
Trump's doing his normal defection tactics. China, WGO, CDC, State Governors. I'm a genius, no one could have done better, it was all them and them and them!
It still plays well to a disturbingly large sector of the US population. I guess it's easier to carry on with the pretence that the emperor is clad in the most gorgeous robes and regalia than face the reality of just how fucked up everything is.
Empires always go into denial when their hegemony starts to be challenged

@canefan I reckon its a way to redirect attention around Covid-19 response in the US. I agree with Kirwan that he's unlikely to be taking it - but if he is he is... dicey stuff it appears. Worst part is this will probably spur others on to try it out.
